Properties of adonis

The plant has been little studied. In scientific medicine, an alcoholic extract from the herb, purified from saponins, is used - flosculene. The use of the plant is based on its ability to increase contractions of the uterine muscles and on its hemostatic effect. Preparations of adonis cuckoo are prescribed in the postpartum period to stop uterine bleeding and accelerate the involution of the uterus in the postpartum period. In folk medicine, a decoction of the plant is used as a choleretic agent in the treatment of jaundice, liver and kidney diseases; as an expectorant for bronchitis; to stop uterine bleeding; in some areas - for infertility. Cuckoo adonis is often mixed with sticky gum. They are similar in their qualities, but tar has a more pronounced choleretic effect.

Methods of using adonis

1. Pour 1 tablespoon of herb into 1 glass of boiling water, boil for 5 minutes. Leave in a sealed container until cooled, strain. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.
2. Tincture. Take 20-40 drops 3 times a day.
3. A decoction of the plant at the rate of 40 g of herb per 1 liter of boiling water.

Cuckoo's adonis or common cuckoo flower (lat. Siléne flos-cúculi) is a perennial herbaceous plant from the Clove family, widely used in folk medicine for the treatment of infertility in women and many other diseases.

The stems, leaves and flowers of adonis are used to prepare infusions and decoctions.

The branching erect stems of adonis reach a height of 30-90 cm. The spatulate basal and stem leaves grow up to 15 cm in length. Inflorescences of 3-30 flowers with narrow petals of bright pink or white color are located at the top of the shoot. Adonis grows in the European part of Russia, in the meadows and forest glades of Transbaikalia, in Siberia. Harvesting is done after the adonis fruits have fully ripened - in autumn. The herb is dried until the humidity reaches 14%, so that adonis does not lose its healing qualities, it must be stored in a dry and warm place, protected from sunlight.

Medicinal properties

In official pharmacology, cuckoo adonis was used for the manufacture of “Flosculene,” an alcohol-based drug from which saponins have been removed, which acts as a hemostatic. Plant preparations are especially effective for stopping uterine bleeding after childbirth: they have low toxicity and act precisely on the muscles of the uterus. This effect of the components of the cuckoo adonis has been proven by laboratory studies. They also discovered the ability of fresh flower juice to kill Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis.

Preparations based on cuckoo adonis are prescribed to women for infertility: the active components of the plant stimulate uterine contractions during sex, which helps fertilization. Cuckoo color is also used against gastric and uterine bleeding. Traditional medicine suggests using it against jaundice, kidney pain, bronchitis (the expectorant effect is possible due to the abundance of saponins), and also as an external hemostatic and wound healing agent.

Contraindications

Taking the drug by pregnant women can cause miscarriage. Cuckoo adonis is also contraindicated for nursing women and children.
