Where is the best place to relax in a pizza. Is it worth resting in Pitsunda with children: personal experience

If you want to relax in Abkhazia, have heard about Pitsunda, and do not know anything about it, today I will tell you about this resort. When we go to the sea, we want our vacation to be comfortable, and for this we need to know whether there will be sand or pebbles on the beach, whether there will be waves, what infrastructure is nearby to eat in two steps from the sea.

We were on vacation with my family, we saw what beach in Pitsunda, and how it differs from other resorts in Abkhazia.

Pitsunda how to get

Pitsunda is a small resort town that has recently received the status of a town. Prior to this, Pitiunt (the old name of Pitsunda) was a village. The feeling of a former village still remains - cows and horses quietly walk along the roads in the city. The city itself is located on a cape, and if you look at Pitsunda from above, you can see how one side of the coastline protrudes slightly forward.

It is located 25 km from and 40 km from the border with Russia. To get to Pitsunda from Gagra or Sukhumi, you need to take a bus - minibus. Public transport costs 30 rubles. To get to the central beach, you need to go to Pitsunda Square, it is easy to recognize it by the Temple behind a high stone wall.

Also, a visit to the city of Pitsunda is included in the excursion excursion "The Golden Ring of Abkhazia".

Central beach and Pitsunda embankment

The road to the central beach starts from the square and is easily recognizable by the stone slabs - this is the only pedestrianized tourist area in the city. There are many souvenir shops and cafes on the left side, food prices are not cheap here, one bowl of soup - hodgepodge costs from 150 rubles. Also grocery stores in the tourist area are all overpriced.

Cypress and bamboo runs along the sidewalk - these are other attractions of the city. To get to the Pitsunda embankment, on which the central city beach is located, you need to go through the turnstile and pay 20 rubles for the entrance. per person.

At the exit to the sea there is a sculpture by Tsereteli called Divers. The appearance of the sculpture leaves much to be desired, the fountain does not work, and the layers of paint on the figures look sloppy. We did not take pictures, although there are a lot of people willing to take a photo with the Divers in the background.

Depth, sea

The central beach of Pitsunda is pebbly. Since it is located in the bay, there are never big waves on it. The coastline is 4 kilometers long. The entrance to the water is shallow, the depth increases gradually. The sea water is clear, even at great depths. The only disadvantage that we noted for ourselves is that it is uncomfortable to walk with bare feet on pebbles, so it is better to swim in rubber shoes. If it were not for the weather, which all our vacation was cloudy, we can call this place ideal in Abkhazia for families with children.

Cabins, sun beds

The central beach has free changing rooms and showers. Sun umbrellas and sun loungers, toilet - paid.

Where to eat on the beach in Pitsunda

There are many restaurants and cafes of Abkhaz cuisine along the coastline. Here they cook a hodgepodge in Caucasian style, shashlik, kharcho and other dishes for every taste and budget. We opted for a restaurant opposite the dolphinarium, where you could also listen to live music. A full lunch with drinks for three people with a child cost us 800 rubles.

Entertainment

On the beach in Pitsunda there are parachutes, catamarans and jet skis, banana rides and boat excursions with swimming in the open sea. I am glad that there are no beach vendors scurrying along the coast, unlike the beaches of Gagra, where they simply have nowhere to go.

There is also a dolphinarium on the Central Beach. But we had no desire to visit it. It is a hangar with a swimming pool, and after impressive performances in, we did not want to spoil our mood.

What a beach in Pitsunda with golden sand

One of the attractions of Pitsunda is not only, but also the golden sand on the beach - a rare occurrence on the Black Sea coast. Some tourists choose Pitsunda only because of its sandy beaches. Sandy beaches in Pitsunda begin 4 kilometers from the central beach in the villages of Ldzaa and Agaraki.

If you want to get to these beaches by minibus, you need to get off at the stop "Rybzavod" or "Golden Sands". The famous sandy beach in Pitsunda is located in a small bay, and is protected from wind and waves by rocks. There is also a cafe where you can have a snack or a full lunch.

Relic pine grove in Pitsunda

This is another feature of this place, why tourists choose Pitsunda. The relict pine tree is of great benefit to humans, the air in the pine grove has a beneficial effect on the immune system and can cure chronic bronchitis or asthma. The resort town is surrounded by a relict pine tree on both sides; to get into the coniferous planting, you need to come to the central beach, where it grows along the entire coastline.

Also in the park there is another rare tree species - boxwood, which almost did not die due to the invasion of the Brazilian butterfly, accidentally brought in during the Sochi Olympics. Now the Pitsunda pine and boxwood forest is protected by the state and has the status of a reserve.

It is pleasant to walk in the park, there are stone-paved footpaths. Of course, the decoration of the park is in an abandoned state, it needs repairs.

Statues of the sights of the central park of Pitsunda

In addition to the sculpture Tsereteli Divers, which is a symbol of Pitsunda, there are several other works of art from Soviet times. If you go to the end of the central beach to the ledge - the cape, you can see the statue of Medea. We have been trying for a long time to understand what this sculpture carries, but without a guide you cannot figure it out.

In fact, the story that the author of this statue is trying to show is terrible. It depicts a Colchian sorceress trying to kill her children, while they huddle in horror at the feet of an insane mother.

Still not far from the statue of Medea, near the "Mayak" boarding house, there is an old Pitsunda lighthouse, looking at which one wants to cry) I don't understand why this long inoperative lighthouse was left here and not demolished. Its terrifying view only spoils the view of the embankment, and the view of it also opens from the windows of the nearest hotels.

Hotels in Pitsunda

In Pitsunda you can not only relax, but also improve your health. Recreation in boarding houses is set up for health-improving programs, otherwise the accommodation is represented by hotels and the private sector.

It is not possible to book a room in a boarding house through popular Internet services for booking accommodation. All of them, and these are 7 buildings, are part of the so-called Pitsunda Resort Association. The main advantage of these buildings is that they are located on the first coastline and each has its own beach. But this is where the advantages end ...

All the sanatoriums have been built since the times of the USSR, 60s. The buildings of boarding houses are multi-storey, more than 10 floors, and are in a deplorable state. They need a major overhaul not only inside, but also outside.

We decided to see with our own eyes one of the boarding houses from the inside. As we were explained, there is a cafe-bar on the roof of the multi-storey sanatorium, from where a stunning view of the entire city opens. To get to the top floor, we had to wait for the elevator for almost twenty minutes, and then climb several flights on foot. When we ended up in the bar, the desire to sit in it was completely gone. It has the same ruined look as the rest of the boarding house. To be honest, it's even scary to come close to the railing to take a photo.

Passing the canteen, we saw what the local tourists were being fed and were shocked. The food in the sanatoriums is presented as a buffet, but it is so meager that you can hardly gorge on one portion.

And you will be surprised, but one day's stay in this complex costs a lot of money. I don't know who you have to be to come and voluntarily settle in these dilapidated buildings.

Also, do not rely on cheap housing in the private sector, prices for rooms in Pitsunda start at 600 rubles. per day per room.

I think the best option is to book a hotel in advance via the Internet. So you will definitely find an option at an affordable price. If you are planning to go to Pitsunda on your own and are looking for accommodation in order not to run into scammers, I advise you to look at the selection of hotels from Hotellook.

Conclusion

In general, during one day spent in Pitsunda, we made a personal impression of her. This is a small quiet town, there are many tourists here, but there is little entertainment. There is a local culture house where old films are shown. Therefore, it is hardly suitable for families with children, and young people can soon get bored. It is more suitable for a pensioner, measured rest, especially since the spirit of the Soviet era soars here. Or for an inexperienced person who has little travel experience and does not have a passport. In addition, as in all of Abkhazia, in Pitsunda the prices are simply exorbitant.

What are the features of the Abkhazian resort of Pitsunda? To what categories of tourists can you safely recommend it? What nuances of infrastructure and organization of recreation is better to warn travelers in advance? A tour operator's specialist on Abkhazia tells.

City and surroundings

Pitsunda is located on a promontory that juts out into the Black Sea, about 50 km from the Russian-Abkhaz border. In fact, within the city limits, the Pitsundo-Mussera natural reserve begins, where relict pines and box trees grow - it is not for nothing that the resort is called one of the greenest in Abkhazia. Many come here to breathe in the sea air, saturated with medicinal phytoncides of coniferous trees.

The water off the coast of Pitsunda is considered the cleanest and clearest. The beaches are wide, pebbled, with a gentle entrance to the sea, comfortable and safe even for small children.

Pitsunda is quite popular with young people, but the resort positions itself primarily as a family resort. It should be noted that the infrastructure for families with children is not yet sufficiently developed. As a rule, the maximum that is offered to young travelers in hotels is cribs and playgrounds on site. Only in a few accommodation facilities can a child be left in the care of educators, this should be borne in mind by parents who are especially accustomed to the Turkish-Egyptian style of recreation. As for the beaches, entertainment such as inflatable slides, trampolines, etc., while there is only in the central city.

In the center of Pitsunda, resorts are concentrated, known since the times of the USSR, with large park areas and a fairly developed infrastructure. Some rooms have been partially renovated. New construction is carried out mainly in the nearest resort villages - Ldzaa and Alakhadzykh. As a rule, these are mini-hotels. Many were erected in eco-style - from wood, using natural materials.

Where to stay?

The hotels are separated from the beach by a pine grove. You can stay, for example, in the new hotel Lucette 3 * +, which opened just the other day. The rooms are comfortable, to the sea - 50 m. On the first line there is a rather popular hotel "Palma" 3 *, which has a small protected area. A more budget option - "Kovcheg" 2 * 600 meters from the beach - a wooden residential building with amenities, on its own territory - a bar with a fireplace, a recreation area.

For a relaxing family vacation, the village of Alakhadzykh is suitable. It began to be developed later than other resort places, the underdevelopment of the tourist infrastructure is compensated by the silence, clear sea and a wide sand and pebble beach. We recommend you to stay in the hotel "Paradise Corner" 3 * - 600 m to the beach, modern buildings in a protected area, full board meals.

It will be convenient for families and young people to stay in the center of Pitsunda. I recommend the cozy and inexpensive hotel "Sosnovy Bor" 2 *, located on the Cypress Alley, 400 meters from the sea. Another economy option is the guest house “U Alexandra” near Samshitovaya Roshcha, 200 meters from the beach. Consider also the new hotel “Arabica” 2 * - guests can use the infrastructure and the beach of the nearby well-known boarding house Litfond.

I would also like to note a very interesting accommodation facility - the Ostrov Park-Hotel 2 *. It is located quite far from the sea - 1.5 km, but right on the shore of a picturesque lake. The hotel is a complex of bamboo bungalows. There is beautiful nature around, you can go fishing, rent sports equipment. The local restaurant serves delicious food.

After the beach

While vacationing in Pitsunda, it is worth taking time for walks in the nature reserve, visiting the historical museum, as well as the temple, famous for its organ - concerts are often held during the season.

In addition, we organize group excursions to Lake Ritsa, New Athos, Gudauta.
