Installation and connection of a storage water heater. Do-it-yourself installation and connection of a water heater Correctly connect the water heater

A boiler is a device that provides heating of tap water in an apartment. It is used quite often, as it is easy to use, effective and absolutely safe for humans. To start using hot water, you need to connect the boiler correctly. This procedure is complex, but if you follow the instructions, you can do it yourself.

Operating a boiler is not as difficult as connecting it

General information

Before connecting the boiler to the water supply in the apartment, it is necessary to study its structure in detail. There are many models on the market, you can choose the option for a specific case.

Water heater device

To properly connect a water heater to a water supply, you need to know what it consists of. Each of its parts performs one or another function that ensures the normal operation of the entire device.

The water heater consists of the following main parts:

  1. Water taps. Thanks to these simple details, it becomes possible to freely open or close the flow of water into the tank of the device. In addition, they are used to drain the remaining liquid. The taps should always be kept open when the boiler is operating, and closed when the device is not in use.
  2. Inlet taps. They are installed on the water supply system through which water flows to the consumer. With their help, you can shut off the water supply to the apartment, which is very important in the event of an emergency.

The boiler will help create comfortable conditions in your home
  1. Check valve. This is one of the most important elements of the system, which is used to protect the heating element of an electric water heater from excessive temperatures. This is especially important when the cold water supply to the tank has been turned off.
  2. Drain valve. This special tap is designed to empty the electric boiler tank. They are used only if there is a need to disassemble the device. Thanks to the valve, all the water in the tank can be safely drained into the sewer, which will prevent it from leaking out and flooding the neighbors. During installation, it is necessary to install the drain valve above the check valve. Otherwise, it will be impossible to get rid of the water in the tank.
  3. Heating elements. These design parts provide heating for the cold liquid that enters the boiler tank. As a rule, they are very powerful, so before purchasing a water heater you should consider the capabilities of the wiring installed in the apartment.
  4. Safety device. It is not included in the package of every device, so it is better to give preference to those boilers that have this component. The device will help turn off water heating in the event of an emergency.

In this video we will look at installing a water heater:

Popular types

The connection diagram of the water heater to the water supply provides for the use of only those devices that are ideal for the room. To make it easier for consumers to choose, all devices were divided into types according to different criteria.

Based on the type of energy used, the following are distinguished:

  1. Gas. Such a device is considered the most profitable from an economic point of view. It is not recommended to install it yourself, since all work related to gas should be entrusted to qualified specialists who have the appropriate official permit.
  2. Electrical. This option is more expensive, but less complicated. The installation of such a boiler can be completed in the shortest possible time and without the involvement of professionals. Because of this feature, electric water heaters are especially popular among consumers.
  3. Wood-burning (“Titans”). They are used extremely rarely, as they require large expenses for the purchase of solid fuel.

In addition, water heating devices are divided according to their operating principle. Among them are the following:

  1. Cumulative. These boilers take up quite a lot of space in the room, as they are of impressive size. Their voluminous tank is very convenient not only for a city apartment, but also for a summer cottage. The connection diagram for a storage water heater to a water supply system involves the use of a low-power heating element. Because of this, energy costs are significantly reduced, but the water heating time increases. The latter indicator depends not only on the power of the heating element, but also on the volume of the tank. Some modern devices are equipped with automatic control of liquid temperature. When it cools below the set value, the heating is turned on again and the selected temperature is maintained. The design is ideal for rooms where a large number of people live.
  2. Flow-through. The main advantage of this water heater is the possibility of constant access to heated liquid. This model will not take up much free space, which is very important when installing the device in small rooms. In addition, the device heats water almost instantly. Among the disadvantages, we can only highlight the presence of restrictions on heating temperature and high energy costs.

Self-installation

There are several options for connecting a water heater to the water supply in an apartment. The installation scheme can be chosen arbitrarily based on the available materials and the availability of free space.

To simplify the work of connecting an electric water heater as much as possible, you need to first prepare all the necessary materials and tools. Not only the success of the event, but also the speed of its implementation will depend on their quality.

Installing a boiler is not an easy task, so do not hesitate to ask the experts for help

During work you may need the following items:

  • metal ruler, tape measure or any other available measuring instrument;
  • impact tool with a set of drills (you can use a special drill equipped with an impact function, or a hammer drill);
  • mounting keys and pliers;
  • fasteners for fixing the boiler on the wall (anchors, brackets);
  • fittings that are intended for installation in water supply;
  • shut-off valves installed at the entrance to the device and allowing instant shutdown;
  • flexible hoses of different diameters and lengths;
  • tow, special tape and other materials that ensure the tightness of the connection.

Other tools may be added to this list. Their set must be compiled based on the existing conditions and assigned tasks.

Basic rules for connection

To install a boiler yourself, you need to follow several basic rules. They will help you avoid most mistakes and complete the job with the highest quality possible.

General installation rules:

  1. It is necessary to ensure the possibility of shutting off the water supply to the apartment.
  2. All branches that go to the boiler must be equipped with shut-off valves.
  3. In order for the device to function normally over a long period, it is necessary to install water filters. They will protect the device from any contamination and make the water cleaner.
  4. It is important to provide for the installation of a drain valve. It is connected to the section of pipe between the safety valve and the inlet to the tank.
  5. To simplify installation, you need to purchase various types of fittings in advance.

Mandatory conditions include the installation of a security system. It consists of a safety and check valve and ensures that the device is turned off in the event of an emergency or breakdown.

With iron pipes

Most apartment buildings have standard iron pipes. They have a number of positive characteristics, but significantly complicate the process of connecting the boiler. For this operation, you can either use welding (welding an adapter with a cut thread) or do without it (a “vampire” adapter). The second option is more preferable, as it allows you to achieve the desired result much faster and easier.

Installation is performed as follows:

  1. The selected place for insertion is carefully cleaned from the layer of paint and rust.
  2. The adapter is located on the riser using rubber gaskets and is securely fastened with bolts.
  3. The water supply is shut off, and the remaining liquid is carefully drained.
  4. A metal pipe is drilled through the central hole in the adapter.
  5. The tap is screwed on and all the necessary elements are connected.

To the metal-plastic water pipeline

This type of connection is considered the simplest and fastest due to the features of metal-plastic pipes, which bend well and hold the desired shape. A wide variety of compression fittings are used to connect parts.

Step-by-step instructions for connection:

  1. A blank of the required length is cut from the metal-plastic pipe.
  2. The location for tapping into the water supply system is carefully selected. In this case, it is important to take into account not the entire size of the tee, but only that part of it that will not go into the connection.
  3. The required piece of pipe is cut from the water pipeline. This can be done using special scissors or any available materials. The main thing is that the cut is as smooth and neat as possible.
  4. All additional parts (fixation rings, nuts) are removed from the tee, and the ends are put on the pipe.
  5. Then the edges are flared using a special calibrator or an ordinary screwdriver.
  6. The tee is inserted all the way, the fixation rings are moved, and the nuts are tightened with a suitable wrench.

Using polypropylene parts

Before you begin installing the boiler, you need to prepare all the necessary tools. Among them should be: a soldering iron, scissors for cutting plastic water conduits, adapters and tees, as well as corners.

Once all preparations have been completed, installation can begin. Wherein The following procedure should be followed:

  1. A suitable location on the pipe is selected.
  2. Then a certain area is cut out. Its width should be 2 centimeters less than the size of the tee.
  3. A preheated soldering iron is used to heat the pipe and fitting.
  4. Once the parts reach the desired temperature, they are connected. In this case, it is very important to avoid rotations and displacements, otherwise the likelihood of breaking the tightness of the connection increases.
  5. Using pipe sections of different sizes and angles, connections to the boiler are made.
  6. A threaded coupling is placed at the edges, and all parts are securely fixed.

Working with the device

Regardless of the type of device selected, its connection will be made according to the standard scheme.

This work must be carried out as carefully and carefully as possible in order to prevent even the slightest mistake.

Installation of the boiler is carried out as follows:

  1. The selected sealing material is wound around the pipes, which are located at the bottom of the tank.
  2. Tees are screwed to them. This work is best done with an adjustable wrench.
  3. Then taps designed to drain water are connected to the tees.
  4. After this, a safety valve is installed.
  5. A shut-off valve is installed on the hot water supply line.
  6. Cold water is supplied and pipes are laid to drain hot water.
  7. The electric water heater is connected to the network according to the selected electrical circuit.

Connecting a boiler is a rather difficult job that requires significant financial and time costs. If you carry it out correctly and follow all the recommendations of professionals, you can significantly simplify the process and complete the task in the shortest possible time.

Installing a water heater will provide owners of country houses with hot water and will increase the comfort of apartments from the old housing stock such as Khrushchev-era buildings and small-family dormitories. The tireless unit will diligently prepare and supply water to the taps so that the owners can enjoy the benefits of civilization.

This will happen if the diagrams for connecting the water heater to the water supply were followed exactly, don’t you agree? You will find complete answers to a wide range of questions that arise before installing water heaters and in the process of connecting them to the communication network on our website.

Reliable information will be useful to independent craftsmen who want to carry out the installation themselves. It is also necessary for customers of plumbing services to check the quality of the work.

Valuable tips are provided to ensure perfect operation of the equipment after installation. The information content of the proposed material is perfectly complemented by photographs and video recommendations.

Features of connecting household heaters are directly related to the types of devices, their technical parameters, and overall dimensions.

Traditionally, two are used in everyday practice:

  1. Cumulative.
  2. Flow-through.

Both types of boiler systems differ from each other in heating technology.

A storage type device equipped with an electric heater (TEN). Such equipment is most often used in the domestic sphere. Can be mounted directly in the bathroom if overall dimensions allow

Storage heaters cold water is collected in a container, heated and then discharged for tapping.

Flow units heating is carried out directly during the flow of cold water in contact with the heater, without collecting liquid in a storage tank.

Household consumers mainly use storage boiler systems. A comparative review of both types of water heaters is given in.

Technical device of the storage boiler

A storage-type water heating system, boilers, in a simplified schematic form is a container equipped with electric heating elements or liquid heat exchangers. The storage vessel has pipe lines for cold water supply and hot water outlet.

A more powerful and voluminous design is an indirect heating installation. It is clear that the source of heating energy in this case is water coming from the heating system. However, if desired, it is possible to connect electric heating

Often, an installation error with connecting the filter or refusal to install it leads to loss of the manufacturer’s warranty.

Common mistakes in installing water heaters

The rules for installing such equipment provide for the use of insulation on cold water/hot water supply pipelines. In this case, the technical requirements for installation determine the minimum possible size of insulation thickness - 20 mm.

The level of thermal conductivity of the insulating material must be at least – 0.035 W/m2.

An example of insulating a heater system where obvious errors are noted. It is necessary to insulate not only the pipes, but also the operating components installed on the pipeline section. This is easy to do with modern insulating materials.

When installing water heaters, they often violate the connection diagram of the home unit to the water supply, using thin insulating material, or not using insulation at all.

As a result, when full operation of the device begins, significant losses of thermal energy are noted. These losses are reflected in the heating time, which increases significantly.

Improper or missing insulation is the main cause of condensation on the cold water line. This state of the system reduces the level of user comfort and contributes to the formation of an unsanitary environment inside the premises where the equipment is located.

Thanks to the expansion vessel, it is possible to compensate for the increase in pressure caused by the increase in the volume of water in the boiler storage tank.

Installed expansion tank in the indirect heating system. In fact, the installation of the expansion vessel was carried out with an error. This element of the system must be located above the line of the top cover of the boiler. In addition, there is no pipe insulation

As a rule, the installation of storage type heaters is limited to the inclusion of a safety valve in the cold water main section. This kind of replacement of the expansion tank with a safety valve is acceptable, but, from the point of view of proper installation, this is a technical error.

In fact, on storage boilers you should always install an expansion vessel along with a check valve.

List of other installation errors:

  • the electrical cable is laid on sharp metal edges or on high-temperature surfaces;
  • the order of connecting the main lines does not correspond to the order indicated on the diagram;
  • the level of installation of the water heater relative to the horizontal and vertical is violated;
  • there is no grounding circuit for the water heating device;
  • the parameters of the electrical network to which the equipment is connected do not meet the passport requirements;
  • installation is carried out in a room where there is no water supply and drainage system.

Any, even insignificant, error in installing water heating equipment can play a fatal role after the device starts operating.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with detailed instructions for installing a storage and instantaneous water heater:

    Often, users install the system without bothering to look at the attached diagram. Connecting two water pipes and inserting a plug into a socket - such actions seem commonplace for them. But technology does not forgive mistakes.

For safe self-installation and connection of the boiler, you need to use all the necessary protective and regulatory equipment, and choose the right method of insertion into the existing water supply system.

Any more or less technically educated person can easily connect a storage water heater on their own.

It is enough just to adhere to the general principles of connection and technological nuances associated with the type of main cold water pipeline and the features of the internal electrical network.

Otherwise, quite expensive water heating equipment may fail, water leaks may occur, or a person may be electrocuted.

In most cases, owners try to place a storage water heater directly in the bathroom or toilet room under the ceiling with wall mounting.

This is quite justified - in this way, space is saved in small bathrooms, since a boiler suspended from the ceiling usually does not interfere with anything or anyone.

But such placement of plumbing equipment is not without some disadvantages:

  • Firstly, in case of cold water shutdown for inexperienced users(mainly housewives) there is a desire to take advantage of the reserves of the valuable liquid contained in the storage tank. At the same time, they often forget to turn off the power supply. A Most of the most inexpensive water heaters are not equipped with protection against turning on without water.(or the latter may simply fail and not work), which will at least lead to breakdown of the tubular electric heater.
  • In this regard more profitable floor installation of water heating storage equipment– as, for example, this is practiced in kitchens, where boilers are mainly installed under the sink. And according to the laws of communicating vessels and gravity, water in the absence of pressure in the system cannot flow through a tap located above the level of the container.
  • Secondly, for wall mounting such heavy equipment(the mass of the boiler is on average equal to the mass of water + 20-40%) Reliable fastening is required.

Not every wall material can provide high-quality fastening. For example, the now so popular plasterboard walls are not even considered. In order to securely fasten a boiler in them (even if it is not the most voluminous one), it is necessary to provide strong metal profiles - mortgages for future fasteners - at the stage of constructing plasterboard partitions.

  • Fastening in concrete or brick walls using metal anchor dowels will turn out to be of sufficient quality. Plastic dowels are strictly not recommended, because after several years they significantly decrease in volume and dry out, which can lead to the fall of expensive plumbing equipment.

Water supply connection diagram

The most reliable, time-tested diagram for connecting a storage-type electric water heater to the water supply network is indicated in the following figure:

When connecting water heating electrical equipment to the water supply network, it is important to observe the following principles:

Connecting a boiler with your own hands to various types of plumbing systems

Steel pipes

In the case of a classic steel water supply, a modern connection method can be used, which eliminates complex processes such as welding, cutting a water pipe and then cutting a thread to connect a tee.

For these purposes, the easiest way is to use a “vampire” tee, which is a modification of a metal clamp, one of which has a pipe with a finished thread.

It is installed as follows:

  • the installation site is first cleaned of dirt and old paint;
  • the clamp is installed using a rubber gasket and securely fixed with four bolts;
  • the water supply valve is closed, if necessary, the pressure in the system is relieved by opening any mixer;
  • using a drill, carefully drill a hole in the pipe through the threaded pipe;
  • The ball valve is screwed on, after which you can proceed to subsequent operations - installation of connecting pipes and safety elements.

To insert into a steel water supply, you will need the following equipment and materials:

  • Vampire tee- 2 pieces;
  • Drill with metal drill diameter 10-12 millimeters;
  • Set of wrenches or pliers and an adjustable wrench;
  • Rubber gasket, FUM – tape.

Video about how not to install small-volume water heaters:

Metal-plastic pipes

Inserting into a metal-plastic pipeline is even easier, since it is done using standard crimp-type fittings.

To do this you need:

  • Mark the insertion points of T-branches on the hot and cold branches of the water supply system.
  • Having closed the inlet valves and relieved the pressure in the system, carefully cut out the marked areas using a hacksaw or grinder.
  • Clean the joints.
  • Install the tees and carefully crimp them using a special crimping press.

To carry out the operation of inserting into the existing one you will need:

  • Two T-branches for metal-plastic;
  • Cutting tool (hacksaw or grinder);
  • Cleaning tool (round file or mounting knife);
  • Crimping press for metal-plastic pipes.
  • Polypropylene pipelines are connected using the soldering method. Therefore, to make an insert into a water supply system from this material you will need:
  • Soldering iron for polypropylene pipes;
  • Pipe cutter;
  • Two tees for propylene pipes.

Detailed video instructions on how to properly connect the boiler to the water supply:

Polypropylene pipes

The operation itself of inserting into a polypropylene water supply looks like this:

  • We shut off the water at the entrance to the system.
  • Mark the cut areas according to the sizes of the tees and carefully cut them out using a pipe cutter.
  • Clean the joints, insert the T-taps, and secure them by heating with a soldering iron.
  • Install valves or extension polypropylene tubes.

To make a threaded connection with shut-off/safety valves, it is necessary to solder special MPH couplings at the ends of the tubes.

Polyethylene pipes

Connection to a water supply system made of polyethylene pipes is possible in three ways:

  • Soldering method. In this case, the same tools are used as when inserting into polypropylene pipelines, only fittings are used from HDPE.
  • Using compression type tees, that is, equipped with conical washers that tighten the connection by turning the nut - collet.
  • By using a vampire tee, similar to that described in the “Steel Pipes” section, only made of high-strength polypropylene.

How to connect the boiler to the electrical network?

An important factor that directly affects the uninterrupted and safe operation of the boiler and the ease of its operation is its correct connection to the electrical network.

To ensure the above, the following conditions must be met:

  • The connection is made through a separate current machine of the appropriate rating. This circuit breaker can be located either in a common panel or in a separate one, located in close proximity to the water heater.
  • Also, according to modern standards of PUE and SNiPs, it is necessary to connect any power electrical appliances, the category of which includes a water heater, through a differential relay (in other words, a residual current device). Typically, an RCD is installed on the entire power wiring of an apartment or floor of a private house.
  • To connect the storage water heater to electricity, you must use a double-insulated cable of the appropriate cross-section.

Thus, self-installation and connection of water-heating plumbing equipment is within the capabilities of almost everyone. If you are not confident in your strengths, abilities, or you do not have enough free time, you can turn to the services of professional plumbers.

Connection cost

Standard installation, provided you have previously purchased all the necessary consumables and fittings, depending on the volume of the boiler, will cost 2000-3000 rubles.

And if there are some difficulties that prevent the quick installation/connection of the heater (for example, a significant distance from the point of connection to the water supply system or the point of connection to the electrical network), then the final amount is negotiated separately.

If you need to install a boiler purchased in a store yourself, then for installation work you should prepare materials, and also carefully study the instructions for this electrical device.

Self-installation of an electric boiler does not present any difficulties, but only for those people who know how to handle tools and have experience in electrical installation work on a 220 V network.

Getting ready to connect

The best option for installing a boiler is in the bathroom. If, due to limited free space, it is not possible to install a boiler in this place, then you should choose a place in the kitchen or utility room. When choosing an installation location, you should take care of the possibility of supplying a 220 V electrical network and cold water supply.

The boiler is installed at a considerable distance from the floor. In most models, communications are connected from below, so the device should be placed at a height of at least 50 cm. If the boiler is connected in the bathroom, then it should be placed at a distance of at least 1 meter from the bathtub and sink.

This eliminates the possibility of water getting on the surface of the device and reduces the possibility of electric shock in the event of a malfunction of the device.

It is worth considering that a boiler filled with water has a significant mass and must be securely fastened. Water heaters are usually installed on the wall. To correctly position the mounting holes, you can use a very simple marking method. You need to prepare a sheet of cardboard and a marker.

Measurements are carried out in the following order:

To install the boiler correctly, you will need to install a separate outlet and supply cold water to the device.

To do this you will need to prepare the following materials and tools:

  1. Hammer or impact drill.
  2. Pliers.
  3. Hammer.
  4. Socket.
  5. Anchor bolts.
  6. An electric cable with a core diameter of at least 3 mm.
  7. Spanners.
  8. Screwdriver.
  9. Construction gypsum.
  10. Automatic switch 20 A.
  11. Chisel.

Connection rules

The device must be installed in such a way that it can be accessed from all sides for maintenance work.

First of all, you need to take care of the electrical safety of using this device: connect a grounding wire to the body of the electric water heater.

To install the water heater, you must use only the factory fasteners that are included with the electrical device.

The device must be installed in such a way that it can be accessed from all sides for technical work. The distance from the side wall to the boiler is set to at least 200 mm.

If the water heater receives water from an individual source, such as a well or borehole, then a coarse water filter must be installed in the water intake system.

The boiler is installed only on a hard vertical surface; it is prohibited to install the device on various partitions made of wood and plasterboard.

It is mandatory to install shut-off elements in the form of ball valves to the cold water supply line and the heated liquid outlet line. This arrangement of taps greatly simplifies repair work that can be carried out during operation of the water heater.

When connecting the boiler to the water supply, a non-return valve must be installed. This device will prevent the formation of excess liquid pressure in the water heater, even in the event of a failure of the automatic relay that controls the activation of water heating at a given temperature.

An elastic tube must be connected to the return valve, which is used to relieve excess pressure into the sewer.

In order to eliminate the possibility of leaks during operation of the device, it is necessary to use rubber or silicone gaskets.

When installing a water heater in a bathroom, its installation should be no closer than 1 meter from the bathtub or sink.

The socket should be placed in the bathroom in such a way as to eliminate the possibility of water getting into it.

Network connection

After the boiler is correctly installed and connected to the water supply system, it must be connected to the electrical network. If the device was installed near an electrical outlet, simply insert the plug into the outlet and press the device's power button.

You should first check for the presence of grounding on the contacts of the socket. If connected to the mains, the presence of a properly functioning ground in this outlet can be checked using an insulated copper wire. One end of the wire is connected to the phase of the electrical outlet, and the other end is connected to the side grounding. If there is a working ground line, the electricity should automatically turn off.

If there is no outlet in the immediate vicinity, then one should be installed. To do this, using a hammer drill and a special crown-shaped attachment for socket boxes, a recess is made in the wall. The size of the recess should be equal to the depth of the socket installed in the bathroom wall.

If, after working with a hammer drill, a layer of material remains in the inner part of the circle, it should be removed using a chisel and hammer. From the mounting hole of the socket to the nearest one, it is necessary to make a groove 30 - 40 mm deep into which the electrical cable will be installed. It is prohibited to install distribution boxes in the bathroom.

The best option would be to route a separate circuit from the electrical panel. If there is grounding of the electrical panel body, the grounding conductor should be secured to its body.

The socket is installed in the following sequence:

  1. The socket box is installed in a hole in the wall and securely fixed with gypsum mortar. The socket box should not extend beyond the wall.
  2. A three-core copper cable is inserted through the side hole of the socket box. The cable is secured to special plastic brackets placed in a groove along the entire length of the cable.
  3. The socket that will be used in the bathroom must have a protection class of at least IP44. It must be equipped with a cover that reliably protects the contacts from water.
  4. The decorative cover is removed from the socket, then the phase conductor and “0” wiring are connected to the terminals. The grounding conductor must be connected to the side terminal of the socket.
  5. After this, the inner part of the socket is installed in the socket box. To do this, you need to turn the fastening bolts clockwise evenly on both sides.
  6. Then the outer plastic part is installed, it is secured with a screw that is screwed into the middle of the socket.
  7. The wire is led through a groove and connected to a distribution box or electrical panel. The groove is sealed with prepared gypsum mortar or special putty.

We care about protection

In order to make the operation of the boiler as safe as possible, it is necessary to install an RCD. This device will turn off the power supply at the moment when a phase current leak occurs along the main connection line of the boiler.
The RCD is connected in the following sequence:

It is necessary to install the device as close as possible to the electric meter, then install, which will protect the circuit and turn off the voltage in the event of a short circuit.

Then the grounding, phase wire and “0” are connected to the RCD. At the output, the device is connected to wires coming from the electric meter. This provides reliable protection not only against fire in the event of a short circuit, but also protection against electric shock.

Checking work

It is strictly forbidden to connect the water heater to the network without water. After the device is installed and the water pipes are connected, the boiler must be completely filled with liquid. To make sure that the heater is completely filled, you need to open the hot water tap and wait until water flows out of the tap with an even pressure.

All places where pipes are connected to the boiler must be checked for possible leaks; if such places are found, then all threaded connections must be additionally tightened with a wrench.

Then the plug is inserted into the socket and the maximum water heating temperature is set on the control panel. After the water temperature reaches maximum values, it is necessary to inspect the pipe connections again.
If the water supply connection points are absolutely sealed, then the boiler can be used for its intended purpose.

  1. Don't skimp on cables when connecting a boiler, only high-quality copper wire can fully cope with the high load and constant connection of a powerful device to the network.
  2. To increase the safety of using the boiler, it is imperative to install an RCD together with circuit breakers.
  3. If you have no experience with tools and electric current, then you need to contact professionals who will connect the boiler to electricity in accordance with all the rules.

If you decide to learn how to connect a storage water heater with your own hands, you need to study all the installation nuances in advance, since any electrical device requires compliance with safety precautions.

Standard plumbing scheme in an apartment

To begin with, you should understand one important nuance: connecting any storage water heater to a water supply means integrating it into the water supply system. The goal of the process is to create a source of hot water in the system with your own hands. It is desirable, of course, that the installation and repairs in the apartment coincide with each other, however, modern technologies make it possible to install the boiler as carefully as possible. In this case, the electric water heater will have to provide hot water to all points in the apartment.

Speaking directly about the standard water supply system, we should highlight the main components - the toilet, to which only cold water is installed, followed by a washbasin, where a riser with hot and cold water is connected, then a bathtub or shower, and then a kitchen sink, which often has a separate supply Actually, this is a standard scheme for connecting a storage water heater; it is necessary to build a boiler into it, which allows heating the contents of the pipes in the apartment. There are, of course, various branching options, which you can watch in a video on the Internet.

If we consider a water supply diagram with a built-in heater, then it must be installed in such a way that it provides hot water to all distribution points except the toilet.

Features of creating a diagram

The main components of the circuit, as can be seen in any video, are special taps and a check valve. A prerequisite for the smooth operation of the circuit, which does not require quick repairs, is the presence of a valve. It prevents hot water from draining through the pipe from cold. Here you should understand the main principle of operation of a water heater, the installation of which can be done with your own hands. Cold water exerts pressure on the hot water tank, and by design, hot water is dissipated from above, and cold water from below.

In order to cut off the storage device from the water supply, two taps work in pairs. Accordingly, they are turned on only during operation of the device, and their installation is necessary. In addition, such taps are important when repairs to the unit are planned and it needs to be removed.

Another important point, without which it is impossible to connect a storage water heater, is the presence of a third tap, which turns off only the hot water supply. Its installation can also be done by yourself. A prerequisite is to cover it while the drive is running. Otherwise, hot water will be able to escape into the general hot water supply system.

Installation stages

The main steps that should be carried out when installing a hot water storage tank with your own hands:

  • Fixing the device on a load-bearing wall. In principle, if the apartment has been well renovated, you can mount it on a simple wall.
