How to make a lid for a paper box. Master class gift packaging modeling design one-piece box with a hinged lid paper glue tape

Hello again! Welcome to the blog of the flower and gift delivery service FLowerBox in Krasnodar. Today we have made a very interesting and useful article for you, and also made a video with which you will learn how to make cardboard gift boxes with your own hands for yourself and for your business! Go!

There's a holiday ahead, but you still don't know how to present your gift in an original way? Or are you tired of finding the right size gift box? Or maybe you have your own store and you need to learn how to make your own boxes and not depend on irresponsible manufacturers? Then this detailed article is about how to make a cardboard gift box for you. Now you will learn how to make beautiful and high-quality boxes step by step.

Let's figure out what we need for this:

Stage 1. BLANKET

Now we will explain everything step by step. We will make a box measuring 15 cm * 15 cm, so we cut out two sheets in advance: Bottom 27cm*27cm, cover 20cm*20cm.

Then, using a stationery knife, pressing half-heartedly, we connect the opposite marks on each side of the sheet. There will be 4 lines in total.

At the corners, the lines form squares that we need to get rid of. Take scissors and cut off the squares at the corners of the box.

And we bend the walls of our future cardboard gift box, which we made with our own hands, along the lines. The blank for pasting is ready! If some processes are not clear from the photographs, you can familiarize yourself with them in the video master class presented at the bottom of this page.

We do the same with the lid, but measure from the edge not 6 cm, but 2 cm.

Stage 2. PREPARATION OF MATERIAL

Here we ask you to be very careful, because unnecessary movement with a knife or scissors can roll back your result to the beginning. Therefore, so that your gift box made of cardboard, which you make with your own hands, is crooked and sloppy, read carefully.

First, we cut out the packaging material to cover our box in the following sizes. Box size + 2 cm on each side. those. in our case 29*29 cm. Our experienced eye sometimes allows us to do this without a ruler, we recommend that you stick to the dimensions.

It should turn out so that on each side of the gift box we have a supply of material left for bending.

Stage 3. Wrapping

Well, now be careful.

First of all, we glue the material to the workpiece on two opposite sides. Thus, as shown in the photo. Press with your hands briefly to secure. (Don't get burned)

Use scissors to trim the packaging as shown here. Total 4 cuts.

Then we make a cut in the packaging material from the base of the box along the wall on 2 free sides, where we have not yet glued the gift box. We do it as shown here in the photo. Total 4 cuts.

We continue pasting the walls. Apply glue as shown here, press with your hand that part of the package that is located on both sides of the already glued wall, and wait for the glue to harden for about 30-40 seconds. Then we move to another corner. And so we glue 4 corners.

After gluing the corners, we need to get rid of the excess material, which is shown below in the photo.

Then comes the final stage of pasting. We glue the remaining sides to the workpiece, pulling it tight, pressing it firmly so that waves do not form on the box and wait for the glue to harden.

Your box is ready!

Watch a video master class on making a gift box from cardboard with your own hands.

We do the same with the lid of the box, without any deviations, and cut out the blank in the same way and paste it over. And your gift box is ready! Congratulations! You've learned how to make cardboard gift boxes with your own hands! Now you can save money and make a gift box of absolutely any size and color, depending on your imagination and materials. Now you don’t need to think about how to present a gift in an original way. Now you know how to present gifts in an original way! We hope this article was useful to you. How to decorate a box with your own hands. Top 3

DIY boxes

What is packaging without a box? Of course, a gift can be packed in a bag or pouch embroidered with rhinestones and beads, but making a box is easier (especially if you are just starting to master the craft of decorative arts and crafts) and faster (this is important in a situation when you suddenly received a call and were informed that you, it turns out, are missing). they are waiting at a party where everyone has already gathered, and decency simply obliges you to present something small and cute to the half-familiar hostess of the house). You can buy a box in a store, but it is expensive - sometimes more than the gift itself costs. You can use a box from under something - for example, a small one from under a mobile phone charger or a large one from under sandals. But it’s only common for our parents to keep all the boxes in the pantry, and young people don’t have this habit. So it won't hurt to learn how to make boxes yourself. By the way, it makes sense to do them for future use - at the same time you will practice.

Simple box

Having learned how to make a simple base box, you can make more complex options without much difficulty.

We take a sheet of cardboard of the required size and draw a rectangle or square on it (depending on the volume and shape of the gift itself). We mark and draw length lines from each side of the drawing to the center of the box - this is the depth. On one side of each “side” we draw 2 cm protrusions, cut them off near the bottom of the box at an angle of 45 degrees, cut out the entire workpiece completely, bend along each line and glue it to the adjacent “side”.

The lid should be 2–3 mm larger than the box itself. To keep the lid in place, you also need to make protrusions. Before gluing the lid, secure it with paper clips and check if it fits.

"Grandma's Chest"

The production of this packaging begins with the same blank as for a simple box - with “sides” and protrusions for fastening. The starting material is the thickest cardboard that you can find in an office supply store.

To determine the size of the pattern, place your gift in the center of the sheet (glued, if the gift is large, from two halves) and step back from each edge by about 8 cm - then you can be sure that the gift will fit.

From one of the large sides we draw a rectangle equal in size to the bottom of the box - also with protrusions for fastening, and so that the sides of the lid go inside the “chest”.

We draw a semicircle on the “sides” of the box (located along the width), the length of which should be equal to the width of the lid. We make the second semicircle along the length of the lid. We glue the workpiece.

The final stage is coloring. You can, for example, glue a pre-painted “barn castle”.

Again we draw a square with “sides”, that is, the walls of the “house”.

At the same time, we draw out the “roof” - triangles (preferably with protrusions for fastening).

In the “sides” we mark the door and windows, cut them out, select rectangles made of cellophane or polyethylene that are symmetrical to the openings. A window frame is cut out of a separate sheet of cardboard - like the “glass”, we will attach it to the back side of the sheet.

The door can be drawn or cut on three sides to make it open and close.

We color the “house” at our own discretion. We attach the “chimney pipe”. All that remains is to glue the “house” together, put a gift in it and fasten the roof fragments together.

At the final stage, you can make small holes for a bow or ribbon.

Draw a square. We retreat from its sides and draw five more equal squares.

We fold them around the perimeter of the base, attaching the last one to one of the previous ones.

Don't forget to make allowances for gluing the fragments together.

After cutting out the blank, paint it or cover it with bright paper.

We glue the fragments together, put the gift in the box and fasten the top.

Triangular box

We draw a pattern - a triangle, twice as large as the box we need. We divide all the sides in half and draw straight lines along their middles - these are the fold lines of the box.

Place the gift in the center of the inner triangle and glue the box together. To avoid any allowances for fastening, you can punch small holes along the edges for decorative tape.

Box-“handbag”

You can cut out and glue a handbag from plain or colored cardboard as shown in the figure.

Cone-shaped box

The packaging box can also be cone-shaped. The starting material is cardboard or thick paper. You don't have to go to the office supply store to buy cardboard, especially if you don't have much time before the party. You can use a juice box, a kefir pack, or, as a last resort, a cover from an old wall calendar.

Envelope

Such an envelope can be made both for a flat gift and for a postcard.

Case box

Such an “intimate” tiny case also implies a very “subtle” gift intended exclusively for a loved one. From two contrasting sheets of cardboard you can glue a sliding case box in two parts.

Box with clasp

This box is good for a mother, girlfriend or daughter, as it looks homely and emphasizes the closeness in the relationship.

The starting materials are thick, beautiful paper or colored scraps of whatman paper.

It is clear that only a small box will look cute and hold firmly. Consequently, the gift is meant to be “intimate” - either tiny but valuable, or completely humorous, like candy with a note.

Star box

Option one

This packaging is suitable for children's gifts, for example for small things like elastic bands and hairpins.

Option two

In such packaging it is good to present a modest “everyday” gift.

Boxes for watches and money

Cute “backings” for watches or chains can be made very simply. And money invested in a handmade envelope will seem like a less “mundane” gift.

Apply the pattern to cardboard or velvet paper. We cut it out, fold it into a box and decorate it with various appliqués.

Box-cup

A cardboard cup with a delicate flower at the top is suitable for any gift.

1. We make a pattern according to the diagram and fold the workpiece.

2. Carefully add allowances.

3. Fix the folds at the bottom with tape.

Chest

According to the manufacturing technique, such a chest differs little from a simple box. At the top it can be decorated with any “lock” depending on the purpose of the gift and the occasion.

"Locomotive" from chests

At first glance, constructing such packaging is difficult. However, in reality it consists of the number of simple cardboard chests you need.

Box “leaves”

This box is equipped with a reversible latch.

T-shirt box

This packaging is suitable for a flat item, such as a book or disk.

Box-"machine"

And a toy car will look great in this box. Or...diamond earrings.

Box - “giraffe”, “elephant”, “turtle”

Boxes for children's gifts can be made in the shape of a variety of animals.

Box with applique

An ordinary flat box can turn into a funny animal - just stick an applique on it on top and bottom. If you make a bottom pattern in the shape of a “sun” with a “fringe” for attaching the body, the box will turn out to be round.

We start making packaging with a Whatman paper tube. Glue the cone. Having cut out two small ovals with ears, glue them together. We place a blank head on the cone-body, glue a bow on the neck, draw a tail and paws.

When the gift is placed in the box, we seal it from the bottom with a thick cardboard circle.

"Little Frog"

A small paper cone will serve as the frog's head. Glue the eyes to the blank, draw a mouth, and then glue the torso out of a cylinder with a closed bottom. All that remains is to glue the head and legs to it and paint the “frog”.

"Face"

Making a funny face with multi-colored braids is very simple. Starting materials - several pieces of multi-colored paper, preferably one that does not tear (for example, tissue paper).

We wrap the box with the gift in paper, fastening the seams - then they will be hidden under the pigtails. We braid a long braid from paper of different colors - enough to wrap around the perimeter of the box. We tie lush bows to its ends. You can tie the braids with thread and fluff the tails. It’s more interesting if the ponytails with bows go to the corners of the box. We draw the face itself with felt-tip pens.

"Candies"

These “sweets” are an ideal option for “distributing elephants” at school or kindergarten at your favorite child’s birthday. They can also be used during a wedding celebration: guests giving gifts will be pleased to receive a return gift, even the most modest one.

"Candy" universal

The starting material is a rectangular sheet of whatman paper, rolled into a tube and secured with a stapler or tape. The rectangle is selected taking into account the dimensions of the gift.

Glue small rectangles of thin wrapping paper along the perimeter of the tube at both ends and gather them into a “ruffle” using decorative tape. Before gluing the blanks together, we decorate them with shells, dried flowers, stickers, appliqués, etc.

"Candy" for fruits

You can pack anything – it doesn’t have to be a valuable gift for a special occasion. A handful of cherries or a few apricots brought to the hospital for an ill colleague will make a completely different impression if you put a little effort into their design.

1. We fold thin, preferably bright tissue paper into a “boat”.

2. Place the fruit in its “nose” so that the paper fits around it like a scarf.

3. We twist the ends of the paper left free. Connect the ends.

For fruits or, for example, for a larger bunch of grapes, an oblong sheet of paper is suitable.

1 Place the offering in the middle of the sheet so that there are free ends.

2 We collect them into tassels and bandage them.

"Sweetie"

Such packaging is suitable, for example, for jewelry, a small toy, a tie, etc. It is better to get rid of the original packaging and turn the gift into “candy.”

Our task is to bend the paper so that the resulting envelope resembles a candy wrapper.

1. Roll up a tie (or any other soft gift) into a tube - this will make it easier to pack.

2. Place it in the center of the gift paper.

3. We bend the ends so that we get triangles, like a candy wrapper.

4. Bend and bring the ends of the package together, securing them with tape.

5. We tie the junction of the edges of the package with decorative tape or cord.

Making a gift even more pleasant is quite simple: it needs to be wrapped beautifully without damaging it. As a rule, there is nothing more practical than cardboard boxes. But even such a boring attribute of a surprise can be played up in an interesting way. And to do this, you just need to make a round cardboard box with your own hands.

Round cardboard boxes or hat boxes are not only original packaging for gifts or confectionery, but also a very practical way to store:

  • fabric scraps, threads, needles;
  • beads, beads;
  • memorabilia;
  • decorations;
  • hats and other items of clothing.

Such boxes look very cute regardless of size, and making them is no more difficult than rectangular models. The main thing is to choose the right cardboard.

How to choose cardboard?

To choose cardboard for round boxes, you need to take into account the basic principle: the material must be flexible. Therefore, thick double cardboard, in which household appliances are packaged, is definitely not suitable. It is best to take thick paper or a packaging version of cardboard for cakes - making a craft from such material will not be difficult and you can be sure that there will be no unsightly folds on it. Also suitable:

  • cardboard for children's creativity;
  • photo paper for printer;
  • poster board;
  • coated or uncoated whatman paper;
  • designer cardboard.

Whatever option you choose, keep in mind that the density of the material should be from 180 to 250 g/m2.

How to make a round cardboard box with your own hands?

For a round box (for example, for stationery), you can take colored Whatman paper.

Materials:

  • whatman;
  • ruler, pencil;
  • PVA glue;
  • markers.

Instructions:

  1. Draw a rectangle of the required height and width on whatman paper.
  2. On one of the long sides we set aside an allowance of 3 cm.
  3. Divide the length of the allowance by a whole number and draw perpendiculars.
  4. In each resulting rectangle we draw an isosceles triangle.
  5. We cut out the blank, paint it with felt-tip pens, fold it in a circle and glue the sides.
  6. On whatman paper we draw 2 circles equal to the circumference of the blank cylinder.
  7. Cut out circles.
  8. Glue the triangles to one of the circles on the outside.
  9. Using the second circle, placed on double-sided tape, we seal the bottom with seams. The box for pens and pencils is ready.

Making a gift box with a lid: master class with diagram

If you want to make a round box with an unusual design, use diagrams from the Internet. Print the design you like on a sheet of designer cardboard, cut out the parts and glue them together. If you do not want to use a ready-made template, then you can do it differently.

Materials:

  • photo paper for printer;
  • stationery scissors;
  • ruler, pencil;
  • PVA glue;
  • double sided tape.

Instructions:

  1. We print any drawing on 2 sheets (it is better to take an abstraction).
  2. Draw a rectangle on one sheet of paper and add an allowance of 2.5 cm to one of the long sides.
  3. Divide the allowance by a whole number and cut to the base line.
  4. Cut off small corners of each rectangle. Glue the sides together.
  5. On the second sheet we also draw a rectangle, the length of which is 0.7 cm greater than the first, and the height is equal to the desired height of the lid.
  6. We also make an allowance on one side and repeat steps 3-4.
  7. We measure the length of 2 circles and make 2 blank circles for each part.
  8. We attach the circle to the base, bring the triangles out and glue them.
  9. We close the seams with the second circle, gluing it to the first with double-sided tape.
  10. For the lid, repeat steps 8-9. The box with a lid is ready.

Festive packaging for cake

The cake box should not only be beautiful, but also durable. This nuance should be followed when making a round “house” for a confectionery product.

Materials:

  • poster cardboard;
  • stationery scissors;
  • compass;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • PVA glue or “Moment”;
  • fabric in 2 companion colors.

Instructions:

  1. Draw a circle of the required diameter on cardboard and cut it out.
  2. Draw a rectangle whose height will be the height of the box.
  3. Make an allowance of 4 cm to one side of the rectangle. Cut out the part.
  4. We cut the allowance in several places and glue it to the circle.
  5. Draw a circle whose diameter will be 1.5 cm smaller than the first. Cut it out.
  6. We cover the resulting circle with fabric and glue it on the back side.
  7. Glue the bottom into the base blank.
  8. Repeat steps 1-4 for the box lid.
  9. From cardboard we cut out a rectangle about 8 cm high, equal to the diameter of the base plus 2 cm.
  10. Glue the side parts of the resulting strip together.
  11. Glue the strip into the base so that about 5 cm protrudes outward. The lid will be placed on this protrusion.
  12. Let's start decorating the box. We make circles of fabric a few centimeters larger than the circumferences of the bottom and lid.
  13. We notch the edges of the fabric circles and glue them to the bases.
  14. We cut out rectangles from the fabric, which we cover the outer and inner sides of the circle.
  15. To hide the seam of the fabric from the outside, you can make a small fold. The cake box is ready.

Decorating round boxes

In addition to patterns and fabric, round boxes can be decorated with almost any decorative elements:

  • sequins, rhinestones, beads (especially if the cardboard is covered with fabric);
  • applications;
  • lace;
  • ribbons;
  • fabric flowers, bows, etc.

The box can also be made in the style of scrapbooking, giving it the appearance of noble antiquity, or it can be supplemented with an element of quilling or origami to make the decoration voluminous. It is better to fasten such parts with silicone glue.

To make such a simple paper box, you don't need any glue or scissors. Just a piece of paper and your skill. The paper can be either thin or thick, square or rectangular. If you want to make a large box, take a large sheet of A3, A2 or A1. If the paper is too thin, fold it in half or even 4 times.

How to make a simple paper box using the origami technique:

1. A sheet of paper must be visually divided into 3 parts. It is desirable that all 3 parts are the same. Bend the paper as shown in the picture.

2. Bend the side parts in half, left and right.
We obtain such a part as shown in Fig. 4.

5. Bend the corners. Please note that on one side the corner should be made of double paper, on the other side it should be made of single paper.
You should get 8 bent corners. 4 on one side and 4 corners on the other side. The process is shown in detail in Figures 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

10. Straighten the resulting part symmetrically relative to the center.

12. We look into the resulting pocket and straighten it into a box shape. This is the most important stage in the work.

13. We make folds with our hands in all corners of the box to give rigidity to the structure.

14. This is what a finished simple origami box looks like. A4 box size: 10 cm x 10.5 cm.

Depending on the original paper size, the boxes may be larger or smaller. They can also be narrow or wide. The narrower and longer the sheet of paper, the narrower the box will be. Now you know how to make a paper box with your own hands in just 5 minutes.

Having learned how to make boxes, you can move on to boxes made of thick paper and even thin cardboard. The finished box can be painted with gouache or covered with multi-colored paper. From the boxes you can make boxes for children's “jewels”, cribs for small dolls, original vases for cookies, store buttons, or small change from pockets..

If you are busy sewing, cutting paper, and you need a temporary trash can, you can very quickly, whip up, create a trash container from a sheet of paper.

The boxes can be used as disposable tableware at a picnic, in the car, they can be made from literally anything you can get your hands on, even newspaper or napkins.

Often we are used to seeing in films how happy people pull out from under the Christmas trees or receive some kind of gift as a gift, but the key here is that the gift is packaged in a beautiful box. This is done mostly to create intrigue, less often to preserve the integrity of the gift. Of course, it’s much easier and less time-consuming to pack a prepared gift into packaging from a store, but it’s much more interesting to make a box

So, your product will look the way you want, and besides, such boxes are unique in their kind, so you will make them yourself. Making such boxes is not at all difficult, and most likely you yourself will receive indescribable pleasure from the work done with your own hands.

Box in classic style (for small gifts)

First, you'll need to roughly estimate the size of your gift, taking into account several important factors such as height, gift thickness, and gluing allowances. We will take these dimensions as the basis when making our own New Year's boxes.

The sharp ends of the box need to be bent inward, towards the center of the bottom square. Using the remaining uncurved ends, we grab the bent ones and wrap them inward. This will be our cover.

We make the second box using the same principle, and due to the fact that this square is one centimeter smaller, the box will close perfectly. Moreover, if you are thinking about how best to make a beautiful box for a gift, then for the other half of the box, take thick paper, not cardboard.

Such a home-made box will fit a gift measuring 5 or 6 cm and up to 3 cm high, i.e. approximately the size that could fit in your palm. If the gift is very small, and you don’t want it to dangle in the box like a rattle filler, then you can put light tissue paper on the bottom, prudently crumpling it.

A simple napkin would be a more convenient alternative. As you have seen, making such a small gift box is not at all difficult.

Such a box with a gift inside should be tied with a ribbon or a beautiful ribbon.

And since making such packaging boxes is not difficult, we want to show a few more options.

Box-cone

The bottom of such a gift box will be a piece of foil, which you will use to seal your box. The cone can be beautifully disguised by making a Christmas tree out of it.

Try it - it's great inspiration!

Box in the form of a prism

  • A square cut out of thick paper measuring 18x18cm;
  • Scissors;
  • Ruler;
  • Pencil;
  • Ribbon and hole punch.

So, we draw the square in half and diagonally. We bend the corners towards the center, and then from the center of the edge into the deflections of the central square you need to draw even arcs.

After this, use scissors to cut off unnecessary corners, and at the rounded ends we pierce small holes using a hole punch and stretch a thin ribbon into them.

Box with a hiding place

And now we want to suggest making a gift box that will come with a little surprise. The box is a fake - it will fall apart when you remove the lid. By the way, the lid is made according to the same principle as we described in the classic box.

You can decorate the inner surface to your liking, glue pictures of old postcards, beads, and then put the gift in the finished box and pack it.

Don't forget the tape!

Felt box

You can decorate the box according to your preference. This box would be good as a handmade New Year's gift box.

So that's it. These are just the basics, and more complex patterns are suitable for those who already have experience in creating simpler box models.

Good luck and inspiration!
