The Institute of Space Technology was created on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of SibSAU No. 3 dated 23.09.2008 by transforming one of the leading and oldest faculties of SibSU - Aerospace.

The scientific potential of the Institute of Space Technology (ICT) is based on highly qualified staff with many years of experience in organizing and conducting research and development work in the field of rocket and space technology.

Students and teachers of ICT work in the field of practical astronautics, create new designs of units and assemblies for spacecraft, are engaged in patenting new technical solutions found.

ICT graduates work in the Krasnoyarsk Territory at the basic enterprises of the Siberian State University. M.F. Students of Faculty No. 6 developed and assembled the world's first student satellites of the Earth "Radio-1", "Iskra 1" and "Iskra 2", which successfully operated in space in 1978 and 1982. Work on the creation and launching of small-sized satellites and nanosatellites, developed at SKB, is ongoing. Research activity helps students to obtain higher education in general and a second higher education in particular.

It trains design engineers, designers and systems technicians for enterprises and organizations of the rocket and space industry and other high-tech sectors of the Russian economy. The higher education of a design engineer in the aerospace field, in addition to special subjects, includes an in-depth study of such disciplines as informatics, ecology, systems analysis, monitoring and control, communications and navigation.

The faculty has:

  • modern training laboratories with genuine samples of rocket and space technology;
  • unique experimental installations, test benches and equipment;
  • modern computers and specialized graphics stations.

  • creation (and launch into Space) of small-sized spacecraft and nanosatellites for remote observation of the Earth from Space, developed with the participation of students of the faculty.

Aerospace Faculty of MAI cooperates with leading domestic and foreign developers and manufacturers of rocket and space technology. Our partners include such companies as RSC Energia, Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center and other large enterprises of rocketry.


Our employees and students take part in various international space programs, such as the creation of the International Space Station and the creation of the Sea Launch complex.

Within the framework of scientific programs conducted by the Federal Space Agency, the Aerospace Department of MAI cooperates in space research with the largest foreign space agencies - the European Space Agency and the National Aeronautics and Space Research Agency of the United States.

Institute of Space Technology (also known as IST) is a public university located in Islamabad, Pakistan focused on the study of astronomy, aerospace engineering and astronautics. Founded in 2002 under the auspices of the Pakistan National Space Agency. IST offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in partnership between Beihang University and the University of Surrey. Since 2008, IST has an ISO certified management standard. IST is based on 73 acres on a campus on the outskirts of Islamabad.

ICube-1

Institute of Space Technology On November 21, 2013, Pakistan's first Cubesat satellite, ICube-1, was launched aboard the Dnepr booster rocket from the launch of Yasny Base, Russia. Its transmitted signal can be heard on the VHF band. It has a mass of 1.1 kg and has a volume of 10 cm cube, it contains several sensors for collecting data for scientific purposes. ICube-1 is a fully autonomous satellite and is able to maintain its health using its on-board computer. ICube-1 will open up a wide range of future experiments that could be carried out at Cubesat in imaging, microgravity, biology, nanotechnology, space dynamics, chemistry, space physics, and various other fields. Cubesat satellites can also provide a test bed for developing satellite constellations for specific applications.

  • IST Youth Carnival (MGK)

It has been named as the "All-Pakistan Inter University Challenge". IST organized a challenge every year for four years. The event attracts participation from universities / graduating institutes / postgraduate universities in the Rawalpindi / Islamabad area as well as from the cities of Taxil and Peshawar. The event includes over a dozen extra-curricular competitions such as tantrums, short film, all rounder, Mushaira and Battle of the Groups. Recently, the name of this event has now been replaced Ist youth carnival or MGK .

  • World Space Week.

In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed October 4-10 as part of World Space Week. Pakistan seeks to enter the realm of space science and technology and related applications. Over the past few decades, IST has seen significant progress in this area. The success of any space program relies heavily on public understanding and support. IST, in collaboration with our National Space Agency (SUPARCO), communicates the benefits of space technology to the public on a regular basis. The Institute initiated the observation of the International World Space Week in Pakistan. Walking paths, lectures, and workshops are organized at schools and colleges in the area by twinning students from IST. The week ends with a full day of variety shows at the institute, which includes a quiz space, poster contests, a cinema space, and a music concert.

The most obvious option, but not the easiest one to implement. The astronaut controls the spacecraft, carries out work on the International Space Station and even goes into outer space. The task of the cosmonauts is to conduct scientific research and test various technical devices. Sometimes astronauts have to repair equipment on board the station. The very stay of people in near-earth orbit is a biological experiment; on Earth, astronauts become an object of study for doctors and biologists.

The selection and training of test cosmonauts is carried out by the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. Anyone under the age of 35 can apply for admission to the cosmonaut corps. Good health and higher education are among the basic requirements for astronauts. The most demanded specialties in orbit are pilot and engineer, and the easiest way to become an astronaut is through the profession of a military pilot.

Designs diagrams of individual parts and mechanisms of aircraft - rockets, spaceships, satellites. Creates new technical solutions, participates in the assembly and testing of devices and mechanisms, prepares equipment operating instructions. Design engineers design rocket engines, spacecraft and rocket-space complexes, patent new designs of units and assemblies.

Robotics engineer

He develops robotic automatic systems, including those using artificial intelligence technologies - one of the leading areas of modern science. Robotic engineers in the space industry create and program spacecraft and space exploration vehicles. Recent advances in space robotics include a robot assistant astronaut aboard the space station and a robot for carrying weights and helping in extreme situations that may occur in orbit. Russian robotics is still lagging behind foreign ones, but in the near future there is an entry to the world level.

Telecommunications and Communications Engineer

Without communication with the MCC, space flights and the development of near-earth space are impossible. Communications and telecommunications engineers ensure the uninterrupted operation of equipment for launching and controlling satellites and spacecraft, are engaged in the design and maintenance of satellite communications, thanks to which radio and television signals are transmitted throughout the Earth. Communications engineers are involved in the operation of the GLONASS and GPS satellite positioning systems.
