Introduction on the topic of loyalty and treason. Loyalty and love in relationships

Fidelity is a moral and ethical concept, immutability in relationships and feelings, in the performance of duty, duties, perseverance and honesty. To be true to your convictions and principles means to have a firm position.

Love is above all

That is why people are required to have a clear understanding of their positions, firm conviction in the chosen course. should become for everyone the basis of behavior, life priorities. And the task of adults is to educate in a growing personality responsibility for their actions and words, to lay down the correct concepts of morality.

Integrity and lack of principle

People are often wrong, this is nature. The world around is changing, human views are changing. In childhood and adolescence, the personality is dominated by a strict polarity of opinions. Good or bad, love or hate, right or criminally - these are the only distinctions in concepts. The absence of transitions, shades in relationships at this age is a common phenomenon.

Over time, people become wiser. They discover the most subtle nuances of psychology. It turns out that a drunkard and rowdy neighbor in the past heroically defended his children, which is why he committed manslaughter and was convicted. In prison, he changed, the loss of his family left an imprint on his character. So is it necessary with the same firmness to despise him for his current state? Or is it worth changing your attitude towards a person?

The principles are sometimes worth adjusting. Especially when they touch people nearby. Therefore, it is not always necessary to put your adherence to principles above humanity. And changing such attitudes is not at all considered a manifestation of unprincipledness. Rather, it is life wisdom.

What is fidelity is a multifaceted concept that permeates many spheres of human life. Without loyalty to oneself, loved ones and loved ones, society, his profession and the state, a person cannot be considered a mature person and develop spiritually.

What is loyalty - definition

Loyalty belongs to the category of moral and ethical concepts - it is a virtue, characterized by persistence and invariability of feelings in relationships, the fulfillment of duty to loved ones, society, and the Motherland. Loyalty and betrayal are two sides of the same coin, and if loyalty is reliability, constancy, firmness, inviolability and faith, then betrayal is a violation of loyalty. It is believed that higher mammals (dogs, cats) can also be loyal and loyal to their owners.

Does modern man need loyalty?

Loyalty and betrayal are two antagonistic concepts, almost like good and evil. Modern man is no longer guided by the principles and values of the past in many ways, and yet loyalty is what everyone wants for himself. Being betrayed and deceived is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent, betrayal always leaves its mark on the soul. The deceived person ceases to trust, withdraws into himself, or worse, begins to take revenge, justifying this by the fact that he was used and betrayed.

Is loyalty always good?

Why there is a choice between loyalty and betrayal - these are individual reasons that pushed a person to make this choice. What guides people at the moment of betrayal or betrayal may be despair or the instinct of self-preservation when life is threatened, no one knows. People love to condemn, seeing only the tip of the iceberg, without assuming what really prompted a person to make such a choice, so is fidelity always good - the answer to this question will be different within the specific context of the situation:

  • in a family where one or both spouses no longer love each other and live for the sake of children - loyalty is like a burden, instead of becoming happy again, albeit with others;
  • often a woman or a man who became widowers put an end to themselves and live on memories of past happiness - such loyalty is also not always comforting and justified.

Faithfulness in love

When two people love each other, the others simply cease to exist. For each couple, this period of enjoying each other can take a different time. Love is not separated from trials, someone goes through them without betraying themselves and loved ones, someone has a need to prove to another that "I can do it without you!" playing on feelings through betrayal. Love is different, sometimes changing love does not stop, but how hard it is to be deceived. How loyalty and love are connected - loving couples who have lived together for decades answer this question as follows:

  • love and fidelity go hand in hand;
  • when a situation arises that provokes treason, the feeling that this will hurt a loved one is sobering and does not allow the betrayal to happen;
  • fidelity in love brings up spouses or people who love each other spiritually, makes them one.

Faithfulness in friendship

How are loyalty and friendship related? In a very close way - true friendship is unthinkable without loyalty and dedication. It is a very rare occurrence when friendship passes the test of time and people are friends all their lives - this is a valuable gift that must be treasured. Loyalty to a friend is:

  • to be there in difficult times;
  • show honesty and be able to;
  • be sincere;
  • show active participation, mutual assistance when you need help.

Fidelity to duty

What is duty and fidelity, is there something that unites these concepts? Loyalty and duty pervade all areas of human life. People are involved in different social roles:

  • family man;
  • friend;
  • citizen of his country;
  • a specialist in a certain profession;
  • member of society.

And each of these roles presupposes, in addition to pleasant moments, compliance with certain obligations, actions, guided by the impulses of how it should be right. Fidelity to duty in these areas manifests itself in different ways, but in general it is the desire to be in harmony with oneself and those values that have not changed over the centuries:

  1. In the family - loyalty to duty is well disclosed in the Bible, uniting themselves by marriage, they promise to be in "sorrow and in joy", jointly manage the household and raise children.
  2. Loyalty to one's state and homeland presupposes a duty, in the event of hostilities or emergencies, to show patriotism and come to the rescue, to defend the homeland even at the cost of one's life.
  3. Loyalty and social duty lies in the desire of a person to improve the lives of people, the ecological situation through certain actions, actions, discoveries.
  4. Loyalty between the allied countries lies in the duty and obligations given to each other by the leaders of states: mutual assistance in difficult situations, assistance in industrial development.

Loyalty to the profession

Fidelity to your profession implies love for the chosen work and dedication. There are many professions, without loyalty and dedication to which there is no point in being in this profession. For example, medical practice requires a tremendous commitment of one's energy and time; a good doctor does not belong to himself. People who are faithful to their profession do not think of themselves outside the framework of it, they are often workaholics, such people are called the luminaries of the chosen path and they devote their whole lives to this path. Self-interest plays the last role here.

Loyalty to yourself

What is loyalty to oneself? In past centuries, this meant to a greater extent loyalty to one's principles and nobility, relying on an internal censor - a person could not act differently and was guided by internal principles, and today there are such people. But loyalty to oneself is not only the prerogative of worthy individuals, there are those who are true to themselves in their worst manifestations - be it cunning, deceit, the use of unseemly methods in their arsenal.

Idealization of fidelity and condemnation of betrayal does not carry any meaning without understanding the reasons for a particular situation that has arisen between people. Fidelity in a relationship should not be self-sacrifice, but a mutual desire to share intimate joys with only one person. Love relationships develop over time, move to new levels. Often there is a violation of harmony, expressed in the loss of joy from communicating with each other. The consequence is the search for a more suitable partner, betrayal. However, analyzing the situation, looking for a reason, a desire to help each other will help maintain the union.

Fidelity is constancy, expressed by steadfastness and invariability in feelings and relationships, the performance of one's duties.

Faithfulness is inextricably linked to the concepts of love and friendship. Adherence to the set goals, worthy overcoming of the difficulties that arise, the ability not to give up, not to betray are the qualities that characterize this definition.

People who do not give in to temptations, do not sell themselves, do not waste their time on trifles, inspire confidence. A relationship based on trust creates a sense of understanding and peace. Many couples strive to create an unbreakable bond, but not everyone can resist such temptations as fickleness, frivolity, and betrayal.

The will and determination to continue the relationship, respect, gratitude, honesty towards a loved one help to develop relationships over time and show love.

The benefits of a loyal relationship

Fidelity partnerships help you find:

  1. 1. Closeness and trust. A special psychic space arises between two people who sympathize with each other, where the two find unity and find in the other an extension of themselves. In love with such a relationship, you can find an inexhaustible source of strength and consolation of the soul. There is no desire to change.
  2. 2. Childbearing. During the period of carrying a child, while caring for a baby, a woman needs a sense of security and support. If both partners are interested in the family hearth and procreation, loyalty will make a woman calm, a man - confident, a child - harmoniously developed.
  3. 3. Self-knowledge achieved through a spiritual connection with a partner. Exchange of experience helps to reveal your own depths. Confidential discussion of events or feelings provides an opportunity to analyze your actions and learn the necessary lessons.

The development of mutual trust in a reliable relationship has prospects for achieving:

  • emotional and material mutual assistance;
  • knowledge sharing;
  • the ability to act in concert for the common good;
  • convenient division of duties;
  • delineation of spheres of control;
  • considering problems from different points of view and solving them.

The concept of treason and its consequences

Treason is a violation of loyalty to a partner with whom an alliance is concluded. Its manifestation affects not only sexual and love relationships, but also negatively affects the atmosphere of the family and leads to a crisis or breakdown.

Love adventures on the side lead to the following consequences:

  • a threat to family integrity;
  • destruction of emotional, household, economic and even parent-child relationships;
  • depressed state of the injured party, expressed by jealousy, resentment, suffering;
  • insult to honor and dignity:
    • the woman feels offended, unhappy;
    • a man considers himself disgraced, humiliated, pitiful in the eyes of others;
  • psychological trauma received by the injured party, provoking:
    • psychogenic depression;
    • thoughts of suicide;
    • expressed aggression towards the betrayed partner (desire to take revenge, kill).

Reasons for cheating

Both men and women can change, and the factors provoking cheating do not depend on gender:

  1. 1. Loss of interest in a partner. When the relationship moves from a passionate period to a cozy home, people with a pronounced sexual temperament become bored and there is a need for new sensations.
  2. 2. Lack of self-care. If appearances are not given due attention, this can transfer the partner's interest to other, more attractive objects that enjoy the attention of others.
  3. 3. Obtaining confirmation of their relevance. If one of the young people feels the need for admiration and compliments, but does not receive it from a partner, flirting with other people is used for satisfaction. Often, coquetry becomes a prelude to love relationships on the side.
  4. 4. Desire to take place in work. In situations related to career growth, sometimes preference is given to a candidate who can interest not only in the professional sphere, but also in the intimate one. The betrayals that arise in this way are rarely isolated, more often they turn into sexual and emotional ties.
  5. 5. Feelings of revenge towards the cheating partner. To relieve the pain of cheating, the victim can do the same. The incentive in this case is not the pleasure of emotional or sexual contact, but the return of a sense of self-confidence.
  6. 6. Early marriage. If the partners got married young, with unformed characters and outlook on life, their further development may occur asynchronously, which will lead to misunderstanding of each other and the search for harmonious relationships on the side.

If a couple is in crisis, cheating can act as a catalyst for joint spiritual growth or separation. The prerequisites for such a situation may be the following circumstances:

  1. 1. A person with infantile qualities is not independent, both financially and psychologically. The loyalty of a partner is necessary for him for his own well-being. In this case, betrayal can become an incentive for growing up, gaining self-sufficiency.
  2. 2. Incompatible people often lack determination. Loyalty in this case helps to maintain a hopeless relationship, and betrayal can show the real situation in which the couple is.
  3. 3. The sense of ownership, requiring sovereignty of the partner, can cause protest, realized through treason. If this situation does not lead to a reassessment of the partner's behavior, inclined to possession and control, the relationship will not develop further.

Society dictates a blind moralization that loyalty is good and treason is bad. Psychology, on the other hand, considers such a flat view as a cover for personal claims with undoubted values. An unquestioned belief in a partner's commitment is convenient. However, behind this is often a desire to justify a relationship without a future and at the same time not to feel cheated, abandoned, unnecessary.

This aspect of the problem will obviously have the strongest resonance. Love as a feeling that reveals the true moral character of heroes is traditionally the topic of literature lessons in high school. Here are just a few quotes to get you started thinking about the nature of loyalty and betrayal:

His love hated me.

I'm bored, my heart asks for will ...

(Zemfira. A.S. Pushkin "Gypsies").

The heroines of Pushkin's poem Zemfira and Mariula have no moral obligations to men and children. They blindly follow their desires, obey their passions. Pushkin deliberately created the image of Zemfira's mother, who left her daughter for a new love. In a civilized society, this act would have caused universal condemnation, but Zemfira does not condemn the mother. She does the same. Gypsies do not consider betrayal a sin, because no one can hold back love. For an old man, the daughter's act is common. But for Aleko, this is an attempt on his rights, which cannot go unpunished. “You only want freedom for yourself,” Zemfira's father accuses the murderer. Considering himself free, Aleko does not want to see others free. For the first time, Pushkin depicted the expulsion of a romantic hero not only from civilized society, but also from the world of freedom. Aleko is not cheating on traditions, but on universal values.

Novel A.S. Pushkin "Eugene Onegin" contains many problematic issues: marital fidelity, responsibility and fear of being responsible. The characters at the beginning of the novel are completely different people. Eugene is a city heartthrob who does not know how to entertain himself in order to escape boredom. Tatiana is a sincere, dreamy, pure soul. And this first feeling for her is by no means entertainment. She lives, breathes it, so she is not at all surprised how a modest girl suddenly takes such a bold step as a letter to her beloved. Eugene also has feelings for the girl, but he does not want to lose his freedom, which, however, does not bring him joy at all. After three years, the heroes meet again. They have changed a lot. Instead of a closed, dreamy girl, she is now a sensible society lady who knows her worth. And Evgeny, as it turned out, knows how to love, write letters without an answer and dream of a single look, a touch to the one that was once ready to give him her heart. Time has changed them. It did not kill love in Tatiana, but taught her to keep her feelings locked up. And as for Eugene, he, perhaps, for the first time understood what it means to love, what it means to be faithful. Tatyana Larina did not choose the path of treason. She is honest:

“I love you (why dissemble?)

But I am given to another;

I will be faithful to him forever. "

Who doesn't remember these lines? One can argue for a long time: is the heroine right? But in any case, her loyalty to the duty of her wife, loyalty to the obligations assumed, causes both admiration and respect.

“We are parting forever, but you can be sure that I will never love another: my soul has exhausted all its treasures, its tears and hopes on you” (Vera. M.Yu. Lermontov "A Hero of Our Time") Bela and Princess Mary, Vera and Undine are so dissimilar, but equally hurt by Pechorin, who survived both love for him and his betrayal. Princess Mary, a proud and reserved aristocrat, was deeply carried away by the "army ensign" and decided not to reckon with the prejudices of her noble relatives. She was the first to confess her feelings to Pechorin. But the hero rejects Mary's love. Insulted in her feelings, sincere and noble Mary withdraws into herself and suffers. Can she believe anyone now? Bela is endowed not only with beauty. This is a passionate and gentle girl, capable of deep feelings. Proud and bashful Bela is not devoid of consciousness of her dignity. When Pechorin lost interest in her, Bela, in a fit of indignation, says to Maxim Maksimych: "If he doesn't love me ... I'll leave myself: I'm not a slave, I'm a prince's daughter!" The relationship with the undine was just an exotic adventure for Pechorin. She is a mermaid, a girl from a forgotten tale. This is how she attracted Pechorin. For him, this is one of the turns of fate. For her, life is where everyone fights for their place. Love for Vera was Pechorin's deepest and lasting affection. No more! In the midst of his wanderings and adventures, he left Vera, but returned to her again. Pechorin caused her a lot of suffering. He gave her nothing but mental anguish. And yet she loved him, ready to sacrifice to her beloved and self-esteem, and the opinion of the world, and the honor of her husband. Vera became a slave to her feelings, a martyr of love. Her husband finds out about her betrayal, she loses her reputation, good relations with her husband went wrong. Pechorin experiences the final separation from Vera as a catastrophe: he indulges in despair and tears.

Nowhere is the hero's hopeless loneliness and the suffering he generates so clearly revealed, which he hid from others, being constantly unfaithful in relations with women. "It's not good, it's a sin, Varenka, that I love someone else?" ( A.N. Ostrovsky "Thunderstorm") Loyalty and betrayal are always the choice of their behavior in a relationship with a loved one. And for this choice, not one is responsible, but both - He and She. The heroine of Ostrovsky's play "The Thunderstorm" cheated on her husband. With all her heart she fell in love with Boris, a weak, weak-willed person. Katerina's secret meetings with him are a desire for love, mutual understanding. She realizes the sinfulness of her behavior and suffers from it. Suicide is a mortal sin, Katherine knows this. But she goes to this for various reasons, including, unable to forgive herself for betrayal. Can the reader justify the heroine? He can understand, he can sympathize, but he can hardly justify. And not only because the commandment has been violated - betrayal is difficult to forgive.

“I am tormented only by the evil I did to him. Just tell him that I ask him to forgive, forgive, forgive me for everything ... ". (Natasha Rostova about Andrei. L.N. Tolstoy "War and Peace").

The story of the spat between Natasha and Prince Andrei, the collapse of a seemingly ideal love story outrages, plunges into bewilderment, makes us look again and again for the answer to the question: “What did the mean, dull-witted Anatol Kuragin overshadow the brilliant, sophisticated, intelligent Bolkonsky in the eyes of young Rostova?” What pushed Natasha into the arms of the "vile, heartless breed"? The reader experiences the fall of Natasha, her tears and pain with all his heart and, without noticing it, makes his choice in favor of loyalty, sympathetic, nevertheless condemns the heroine's betrayal.

“No, Nikolai Alekseevich, I haven’t forgiven. Since our conversation touched our feelings, I’ll say frankly: I could never forgive you. Just as I had nothing more dear than you in the world at that time, so it did not exist afterwards. That is why I cannot forgive you ”. (Hope. I.A. Bunin "Dark alleys").

Bunin's works about love are tragic. For a writer, love is a flash, a sunstroke. His love cannot be extended. If the heroes are true to this love, then only in their souls, in their memories. The heroine of the short story "Dark Alleys" managed to retain in her memory the fidelity of her first and only love for Nikolay in her life, somewhere in the depths of her soul there is a flame of this wonderful feeling that she experienced so strongly in her youth for "Nikolenka", which, as the heroine says , she gave "her beauty." And what about the hero? For him, a relationship with Nadezhda is a fleeting hobby of a handsome maid. He did not even understand that he had betrayed his beloved, changed their love, when he simply forgot about her. But it turned out that it was this love that was the main thing in his life. Nicholas has no happiness: his wife cheated on him and left him, and his son grew up "without a heart, without honor, without a conscience." Betrayal of love makes both unhappy, and loyalty to her beloved warms the heroine's heart, although when she meets, she accuses him, not forgiving for the betrayal.

“Follow me, reader! Who told you that there is no real, faithful, eternal love in the world? Let the liar cut off his vile tongue! " ( M.A. Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita"). This is a novel about the love of two people who, before meeting each other, were each in their own way lonely and unhappy. Margarita will look for her Master, and when she finds him, they will never part again, because it is love that is the force thanks to which you can survive all the hardships and hardships of life, without losing such qualities as loyalty, hope, kindness and sympathy! The purity of Margarita's moral character, her loyalty, devotion, selflessness, courage in the performance of duty - these are the eternal features of Russian women who are capable of stopping a galloping horse and sharing with their beloved all the hardships and hardships that fall to their lot. She is completely faithful to her Master.

But let's not forget that Margarita is also committing treason. Due to their sympathy for the heroine, writers never emphasize that, having fallen in love with the Master, Margarita cheated on her husband. But her love was treason towards him. For the sake of the Master, the heroine, to some extent, betrays herself, because she agrees to sell her soul to the devil, to be at Woland's ball, hoping that he will help her return her beloved, which she probably would not have done under other conditions. This is the character of Margarita - she is ready for anything for love. The wiles of the devil are tempting: Bulgakov's heroine subconsciously suffers because of her betrayal to her husband and acutely feels her guilt.

There are other perfidies in the novel by M. Bulgakov. Judas betrays Yeshua. Pilate betrays justice. The master betrays his life's work. There are traitors among the guests at the ball. And also Baron Meigel, Berlioz. It is scary when a person consciously devotes himself to serving imaginary values, realizing their falsity. Here it is, treason to yourself! The writer is convinced that the conformism of those who understand evil, are ready to condemn it, is more terrible than open evil, but does not do this because of cowardice, that everyone who has ever followed the lead of cowardice, one way or another, comes to betrayal.

The history of foreign literature gives us another example of the amazing property of the human soul - the ability to faithfully wait for that very minute, that very meeting ...

Love, which cannot be forgotten

To the one of us who truly loved.

(Dante Alighieri. "The Divine Comedy").

Dante and Beatrice. She was out of reach for Dante during his lifetime. But he remained faithful to her and after her death, openly, openly, lavished the most sublime praise of his beloved. His Beatrice in the poem rose, lost earthly features, became a dream, an ideal of life, a beacon on the poet's sorrowful path: "If my life lasts a few more years, I hope to say about her that has never been said about any woman." Dante fulfilled his promise, he wrote a great poem in which he sang his muse. It is no coincidence that Dante and his companion Virgil meet in Paradise those who were faithful and virtuous: Saint Lucia, the biblical prophets. They are next to her, his divine Beatrice. Is this not an example of the amazing loyalty of a beloved?

Treason to the Motherland, beloved, friends ... What could be worse? Therefore, in the ninth, most terrible circle of Hell, there were, according to Dante, traitors to the homeland, traitors. There is the first killer on earth - Cain, there is Lucifer, who rebelled against God, there is Judas, who betrayed Christ, there Brutus and Cassius, who betrayed Julius Caesar. This is where the traitor's path leads - to hell!

One cannot but recall the tragic outcome of yet another love story:

No, don't swear by the deceiving moon

In love until the grave of a young maiden!

Or will you, like the moon, fickle ...

(Juliet. W. Shakespeare "Romeo and Juliet").

The love of Romeo and Juliet, literally love to the grave, is touching and boundless. But weren't two young hearts "traitors"? After all, they betrayed the traditions of the family, violated the unshakable (until then!) Truth: Montagues and Capulet are enemies forever. But who will raise a hand to condemn the lovers. Their loyalty to each other makes them tremble, and death puts an end to the eternal enmity of "two equally respected families."

You can talk about loyalty and betrayal by analyzing episodes from the works of such authors as:

M. Gorky "Mother of the Traitor", fairy tales "No. IX, No. XI" from "Tales of Italy";

L. N. Tolstoy "Anna Karenina";

A.I Kuprin "Olesya", "Garnet Bracelet", "Shulamith";

V. Bykov "Sotnikov";

M.A. Sholokhov "Quiet Don".

Melikhan) You cannot rely on female fidelity; happy who looks at it indifferently. (A.S. Pushkin)

When you love, you don’t want to drink other water than the one you find in your favorite spring. Fidelity in this case is a natural thing. In a loveless marriage, the spring water turns bitter in less than two months. (Stendhal) The basis of love, its primary condition is faith, unconditional fidelity and devotion. True love is not blind, on the contrary, it, perhaps, for the first time opens a person's eyes. The slightest betrayal of a loved one, if it happens sooner or later, is a complete betrayal of everything, from the very beginning, it destroys not only the future, but also the past, because this means that every day of a life full of trust was a lie and the heart was deceived. Whoever has been unfaithful even once has never been faithful. (David Scott)

3. Loyalty / treason to the Motherland, national debt. For treason to the homeland, an extreme baseness of the soul is needed. (NG Chernyshevsky) There is only one crime that cannot be redeemed - it is treason to your state. The homeland cannot be changed, it can only be betrayed. A person who truly loves the Motherland always knows its value ... To express your opinion, you do not have to be a famous person ... (EV Gushchina) Ignorance, selfishness and betrayal - these are the three irreconcilable enemies of patriotism. (Garegin Nuzhde) There is no higher idea of how to sacrifice your own life, defending your brothers and your fatherland. (FM Dostoevsky) You cannot be a hero fighting against the motherland. (Hugo V.) Is it possible to run away from yourself, leaving your homeland? (Horace)

If the holy army shouts: “Throw Russia, live in paradise!”, I will say: “No need for paradise, Give my homeland.” (S.A. Yesenin) Everyone's duty is to love the homeland, be incorruptible and courageous, to be faithful to it , even at the cost of life. (J.-J. Rousseau) I understand loyalty as loyalty to the homeland, and not to its institutions and rulers. Homeland is true, lasting, eternal; the homeland must be protected, one must love it, one must be faithful to it; institutions are something external, like clothes, and clothes can wear out, tear, become uncomfortable, stop protecting the body from cold, illness, and death. 4. Loyalty / betrayal in relation to a friend, comrade, etc. Be loyal to the one who is loyal to you. (Plath) In both friendship and love, sooner or later, the deadline for settling scores comes. (JB Shaw) Cheating on a friend is much more painful than cheating on a loved one, because you expect it less from him. (Etienne Rey) Cheating on a friend is a crime Without excuse, without forgiveness. (Lope de Vega) Loyalty is the commandment of friendship, the most precious thing that can be given to a person. (E. Thalmann) Half friend - half traitor. (V. Hugo) An unfaithful friend is like a shadow that follows you while the sun is shining. (K. Dossey) Loyal to you is a friend; loyal to you is an enemy. (A. Nadanyan

5. Loyalty / betrayal in relation to oneself, one's moral principles, one's vocation, goals, word, religious convictions, etc. Be true to yourself, and then, as surely as night succeeds day, faithfulness to other people will follow. (Shakespeare) A fool is the man who never changes his mind. (W. Churchill) Who is true only to himself, is always unfaithful with others. (L. Sukhorukov) Those who never change their views love themselves more than the truth. (J. Joubert) Who betrays himself does not love anyone in this world. (Shakespeare) Be true to yourself, and then faithfulness to other people will follow as surely as night follows day. (Shakespeare)

If you hid the truth, hid it, if you did not get up and speak at the meeting, if you spoke without telling the whole truth, you betrayed the truth. (J. London) But it's sad to think that youth was given to us in vain, That they cheated on her every hour, That she deceived us. (AS Pushkin) To change or not to change is completely your business. The main thing is not to cheat on yourself, not to waste on what you really don't need, and to be able to keep what is really valuable. (O. Roy) To be authentic is to be true to yourself. (Osho) Agility of mind does not paint a person too much, if it is not accompanied by correct judgment. Not those watches are good that run fast, but those that show the exact time. (Vauvenargue) The word "loyalty" has done a lot of harm. People have learned to be "faithful" to a thousand injustices and iniquities. Meanwhile, they should have been true only to themselves, and then they would have rebelled against deception. (M. Twain) Traitors betray themselves first of all. (Plutarch)

6. The loyalty of animals to their owners. White Fang did not like Gray Beaver - and yet remained loyal to him in defiance of his will, his anger. He could not help himself. That is how he was created. Loyalty was the property of the White Fang breed, loyalty set him apart from all other animals, loyalty brought the wolf and the wild dog to man and allowed them to become his companions. (J. London) No dog in the world considers ordinary devotion to be something unusual. But people came up with the idea of extolling this feeling of a dog as a feat only because not all of them and not so often have devotion to a friend and loyalty to duty so that it is the root of life, the natural basis of the very being, when the nobility of the soul is a matter of course. (G. Troepolsky)

Much has been written about canine loyalty, but no one seems to have said that loyalty is happiness. He who serves the one he loves already receives his reward. (L. Ashkenazi) Whoever has experienced affection for a faithful and intelligent dog, there is no need to explain with what ardent gratitude she pays for it. There is something in the disinterested and selfless love of the beast that conquers the heart of everyone who has more than once had the opportunity to experience the treacherous friendship and deceitful devotion inherent in Man. (E. A. Poe) Faithfulness is a quality that humans have lost, but dogs have retained. (A.P. Chekhov)
