Kitchen design with a brick oven. Choosing a stove design for your home

The story of Svetlana, Oleg and daughter Alina from Rudensk:

We decided to take part in the competition, since no one has such a cuisine like ours. It is not only small in size, but also without windows, a checkpoint and with a stove. And so I wanted to show what we could do. We do not expect to win, but perhaps someone will appreciate it.

Half of the house, built in the post-war period, I inherited after the death of my grandparents. And for 24 years now we have been constantly building something, completing it, rebuilding it, repairing it.

For everyone to have their own room, as well as a living room, the kitchen had to be located in a dark corridor. Then the doors were removed - everything to make it brighter. And so, in 2012, they undertook a major overhaul of the kitchen: they moved gas stove, redid the water supply to the kitchen, removed the wall between the living room and the kitchen. We left the stove - we are all heat-loving, and during the off-season we heat it every day.

Then they started finishing. The house is wooden, we do not live in the city, we are adherents of minimalism, practicality and simplicity. So we decided to do without "expensive urban renovations". It took a long time to choose what to "sheathe" the walls with. We stopped at OSB slabs. And since we always do everything ourselves (although they are far from construction specialties), the slabs turned out to be a "gift" - light, do not require special rough finishing.

The walls were covered with white paint - this way it is lighter and easier to decide what to do with them next. In the end, I liked it.

For practical reasons, the ceiling had to be hemmed with MDF panels. The lamp is an ordinary chandelier with a glass shade.

On the floor - tiles produced by Keramin. As soon as they didn’t try to lay it down, I didn’t like it. And so such a decision was born - not in a checkerboard pattern, but a ladder.

There is also Keramin tile on the wall. The husband laid all the tiles himself.

And then the fun began. I had no idea what the kitchen should be like. And then on the Internet I saw a red sink from artificial stone (produced by Zhodino) and I wanted to buy it. I didn't even think then what I would do next, having such a sink. Everyone supported me, and they bought the sink (by the way, it still makes me happy).

We went to the construction market to look at the tiles on the stove. They walked around everything - I don't like anything. In the last pavilion they saw the tiles and realized that this was what we needed. The husband drew a stove on a scale, gave each a copy of the tile, and each drew his own vision of the layout. Then they assembled the final of the three options, bought required amount tiles, and the husband began to work according to the scheme. What happened - you see. Tiles - made in Poland.

The set was made to order in calm classic shades.

Mixer - made in Lithuania. There is a 15 liter electric water heater under the sink.

A gas hob and an electric oven "Hephaestus" were bought due to the low price (compared to imported models). And we are not sorry about this.

When one side of the kitchen was ready, the other was left - with a white refrigerator, a white microwave oven, an old kitchen table and stools. This side, naturally, did not fit into our idea. Therefore, I had to buy a red (I was categorically against the metallic gray) refrigerator "Atlant" (the only one who offered red). The microwave oven was bought in metallic colors, since with red it would have been too much.

The round table, which is more than 50 years old, was restored and covered with matt varnish. The chairs are also old, the seats are covered with new fabric.

This is the kitchen that we love. And when the stove is heated, the wood crackles, dinner is being prepared on the stove, no one wants to leave the kitchen, and we sit there in the evenings.

Recently, the renovation of the living room has begun, and the second part of the stove that goes into the living room is still unfinished.

When we carry out repairs, I always write down the costs, so after three years I give the exact prices. The renovation lasted from March to November.

OSB Sheets - $ 135
MDF panels - $ 43.
Wall tiles - $ 35, stove - $ 50, floor tiles - $ 88.
Headset - $ 670
Hob and oven - $ 500
Washing - $ 90.
Mixer - $ 90
Water heater - $ 70.
Range hood - $ 100.
Refrigerator - $ 472
Microwave oven - $ 110.

The oven in the kitchen is a return to the past, but in a modern "wrapper"

Arrangement of a kitchen with a stove, its design and decoration is not an easy matter, because a wide range of choice of finishing materials is significantly narrowed due to the characteristics of the furnace. In order to make a comfortable and cozy kitchen with a stove, you need the right approach and competent selection of materials.

Kitchen design with oven

For every housewife, the kitchen is one of the most significant places, which is why, when renovating this room, special attention is paid to its design. The interior of a kitchen with a stove can be very diverse - it all depends on the size of the kitchen, its layout and location, the style of the interior in other rooms and the preferences of the owners. In order for a pleasant atmosphere to reign in the whole house, it must be complete and have a single direction in interior design.

Using a stove in the kitchen is a rather bold decision, because in addition to aesthetic beauty, it requires proper care

For a kitchen with a stove, the most characteristic is the rustic style, since the stove fits into it more harmoniously.

A rustic kitchen will create a unique atmosphere of warmth and comfort throughout the house, and will also help residents return to distant childhood and remember their grandmother's house.

Rustic Provence or country style in the kitchen will plunge into the fabulous atmosphere of childhood, the only difference is that the kitchen will be equipped with modern appliances for maximum ease of use.

Design of a small kitchen with an oven

Contrary to opinions, even in a small kitchen the stove will be appropriate, the main thing is to arrange everything literally. In a private house, a small kitchen is not a rarity; rather, on the contrary, it is much more common. And its arrangement entails many difficulties, especially if this kitchen is with a stove. In a small area, it is very important to rationally plan the placement of the necessary furniture and equipment. With the right approach, it is quite possible to equip even a small kitchen space comfortably and comfortably.

  • Colour. For a small kitchen, color matching is very important. So that visually the kitchen does not seem very cramped, you should choose neutral, calm tones, where the basis should be a light shade. This applies to both the color of the stove and walls, and the color of the furniture. You can add several bright spots, for example, highlighting the facades of furniture, curtains, and an apron with a different color.

Too many different patterns and ornaments will visually reduce the look of the kitchen, so you should not get carried away with the variety.

  • Lighting. Even a small kitchen with a stove should have central lighting and illumination of the working area. If the room is a walk-through and the working area is located against a wall with a window, hanging lamps will help out perfectly.

In a small kitchen, it is recommended to use cold incandescent lamps, since yellow light visually reduces the space.

    Rational use of space. Furniture for a small kitchen should not be too bulky. The perfect solution there will be shallow cabinets, allowing you to expand an already small area of the room. The possibility of purchasing built-in appliances will also be indispensable in a small kitchen with an oven.

As a rule, in the kitchens of private houses, the heating stove is a cooking stove. It is not recommended to place lighting over such a stove.

Kitchen with an oven in a wooden house

A house made of wood certainly has a certain energy that contributes to the creation of a favorable atmosphere.

The kitchen is one of the main places in the house, so it should be cozy, comfortable and at the same time as functional as possible. The specificity of the kitchen area is that it is subject to frequent contamination due to regular cooking, heating and high humidity. All this can subsequently lead to the formation of indelible stains on interior items. Therefore in the plan of finishing the kitchen in a wooden house should be thought out in detail.

Wooden house and the oven are just made for each other

  • Ceiling. For a kitchen with a stove, it is better to use suspended ceiling structures or leave the ceiling natural, covering the log cabins protective layer varnish. Stretch ceiling or wallpaper will not be practical, because high temperature, vapors and heat emanating from the oven will not favorably affect these materials.
  • Walls. If the outside and interior decoration keep houses in a single ensemble, then a block house or lining will be the optimal material for wall decoration. Natural wood trim is environmentally friendly for the health of others and harmoniously fits into the interior wooden house... To extend the service life, wooden walls require treatment with antiseptic compounds and protective coatings every few years.

In order to keep the decoration of the walls of the working area of the kitchen safe, it is better to use a protective apron. FROM wooden walls the apron from natural materials or from MDF with any suitable texture.

  • Types of Russian stoves
  • The location of the stove in the interior
  • Furnace design ideas
  • A stove decorated in folklore style

The rustic or folkloric style never went out of style. Its elements have always been used in the interior. country houses and summer cottages. The completely modern design of the kitchen does not deny the presence of oversized furniture, as if darkened from time to time, curtains for windows decorated with hand embroidery, rough wooden shelves.

But the main decoration of such a room is, of course, a real Russian wood-burning stove.

More recently, it was considered an inconvenient and cumbersome structure, trying to replace it with fireplaces made according to the Western model. But now more and more people want to return real comfort and coziness to a country house. And in such an interior, the stove can play a key role.

Types of Russian stoves

The final kitchen design largely depends on the type of stove itself. These heating structures differ not only in the materials used for their decoration, but also in their design. The stove can only be used for space heating. But some models have a cooking stove. This is the construction shown.

For a rustic style, a shade of brown works very well. Green and red also look good in such a kitchen.

Most modern ovens are made of bricks. Such a structure can be whitewashed, as our ancestors did, or laid out with special clinker tiles that are resistant to temperatures. If you want your interior to be designed in a traditional style, then pay attention to majolica. These are white ceramic tiles decorated with delicate bluish patterns. Such ovens are usually called "Dutch".

Before thinking over a design for your kitchen, decide on the purpose of the oven. Because this building really takes up a lot of space. And it is much wiser to make it not only an element of home decor, but also a full-fledged, functional item. Of course, hardly anyone will be cooking on a Russian stove now (this is a rather difficult job that requires certain skills). But you can still heat the house with it. For example, pipes with water can be connected to the stove, which will heat everything indoor spaces... Then, when planning the future interior, it is necessary to provide for their presence.

You may want to equip a sleeping place (couch) on the stove, then you can combine the design of the kitchen and recreation areas into a single space. Of course, the future interior depends not only on the purpose of the stove, but also on your taste and preferences.

The location of the stove in the interior

If your house already has a stove, then it is wiser to plan the architecture of the room and the interior based on the location of the building. When building a house, the stove can be placed almost anywhere in the kitchen. In any case, it must be borne in mind that it is a heating device. Moreover, the heat from it spreads unevenly. Therefore, the dining area must be located at some distance from the oven. Do not push close to it and electrical appliances: refrigerator, washing machine or dishwasher, "microwave". The optimal furniture arrangement is shown.

When planning the interior of your future kitchen, keep in mind that the room should be not only beautiful, but also comfortable. It is worth remembering that there must be a free space of at least 0.7 m in front of the furnace of the stove. It is necessary so that you can freely approach the stove and, for example, put firewood. In addition, the presence of such a gap between the oven and the rest kitchen furniture provided by the fire safety rules.

Thinking over the design and choosing the material for finishing, do not forget that the floor around the stove must be decorated with a non-combustible coating, as sparks often fly out of the firebox and embers fall. For flooring it is best to use artificial stone or natural ceramic tiles.

The stove, due to its size, will always occupy a leading position in your interior. Therefore, its appearance should correspond to the general design idea.

Furnace design ideas

Experts offer us a variety of ideas for kitchen design with a stove. Of course, most often such rooms are decorated in a folkloric, emphasized rustic style. But this does not mean that you cannot use modern solutions... The Russian stove will perfectly fit into a room made in a minimalist style, as shown.

For such a structure, choose simple design with geometric lines and right angles. Tiles, plain ceramic tiles or glass blocks are used to decorate such stoves. Moreover, these finishing elements can be combined with each other.

If the design of the stove is kept in light colors, and the room is decorated in dark, restrained colors, then the structure itself will take a dominant position in your kitchen and will become the center of the interior. But the size of the stove can be visually reduced if its coating is slightly darker than the surrounding furniture.

A stove can be used to zone the room, separating, for example, the dining area from the kitchen. Then she will play the role of a partition. In the design, you can use 2 stylistic solutions at once. One of them will be for the dining room and the other for the cooking area. In this case, special attention should be paid to the front of the oven. Both styles should be organically combined in it.

It is problematic to create an original kitchen design in an ordinary apartment due to the small area of the room. And in a private house, the size of the kitchen makes it not only multifunctional, but also interesting from a design point of view.

The larger the kitchen area, the easier it is to implement unique design solutions and turn the cooking and eating area into a stylish room where you can not only cook, but also receive guests.

The kitchen in a private house differs from kitchens in apartment buildings not only the size of the room. There are several points that significantly distinguish the kitchen in a private house from the usual:

With stove

An important element of most kitchens in a private house is the stove, which heats not only this room, but the whole house. The presence of a stove in the kitchen dictates its own conditions, namely, when arranging a room, certain building materials should be used.

The stove in the house does not necessarily dictate the rural style; you can turn this place into a medieval castle.

For example, it is advisable to leave the ceiling in a room with a stove wooden, making a protective varnish on the log house. Plastic ceilings or wallpaper are not suitable for finishing, as due to a working oven there will be a high temperature in the room, and hot air tends to rise and adversely affect artificial materials.

It is also better to leave the walls wooden or use special tiles that are resistant to high temperatures... How to decorate the walls in the kitchen on the advantages and disadvantages different materials ... A kitchen floor with a stove in the work area is best made from ceramic tiles... A large kitchen area will allow you to use parquet or laminate on the floor in the dining area, away from a working stove.

The style of a room with a stove does not have to be rustic; with a competent design, the stove can be entered into both modern design and high-tech. The brick lined stove will look stylish in any interior.

With fireplace

You can add special coziness to the kitchen in a private house using a fireplace. It can serve not only as a heater, but also serve as an interior decoration. The fireplace portal can be finished with both stone and polymer.

If the design of the kitchen provides for a natural finish of individual elements, you can decorate the fireplace using masonry, brick or river stone. A classic interior can be complemented by a tiled fireplace.

For the design of fireplaces in a private house, high-quality refractory materials are always used, which make this decor element safe. Since the fireplace in the kitchen will most likely be used for gatherings in front of it, it is advisable to equip comfortable seating in front of it.

The fireplace in the kitchen will become the personification of the hearth, which is carefully maintained by every housewife.

It is necessary to install a fireplace in the kitchen of a private house in accordance with all safety rules, providing air to it and observing all fire safety standards when laying a fireplace.

With gas boiler

When designing a kitchen in which a gas boiler is equipped, it is important to organically fit the column into the design of the room. You can either hide the gas boiler, or try to make it match the kitchen set as much as possible and not catch your eye.

For example, a boiler can be hidden in an ordinary kitchen cabinet, then it will be visible only if the cabinet doors are open. To do this, when ordering kitchen set you need to take into account that you will need a separate place to mask the gas boiler.

There are certain requirements for the installation of furniture that will come into contact with heating devices. For most wall-mounted enclosures, there should be a gap of at least 3 cm on both sides of the boiler, and there should be no rear wall or bottom. It is imperative to discuss these details with furniture installers in order to use the furniture mask for the gas boiler as safe as possible.

If you do not want to hide the boiler in furniture, then choose such a unit so that it is in harmony with the color of the kitchen as much as possible.

The correct color of the gas boiler will make it almost invisible in the kitchen space.

With windows, bay window or exit

Windows are a great source of light and decor

Daylight in the kitchen of a private house makes the room bright and spacious. Window decoration plays an important role in the interior. It depends on the size of the room, the location of the window, and personal preference. Instead of a window sill, you can make a tabletop by continuing working area. Often in the kitchen of a private house, a sink is placed under the window. Read about fashionable sinks made of artificial stone today.

Doing household chores in the kitchen is not so boring if you see a wonderful view from the window

If you want to use a window in the kitchen for decoration, live plants can be placed on the windowsill, which will receive enough sunlight in this place. In modern architecture, a bay window is often used in the kitchen - these are large windows that protrude beyond the walls of the building.

The bay window can also be equipped as a recreation area.

Bay windows look spectacular, especially if you beat them correctly. For example, equip there with a sofa and pillows or decorate a bay window with stylish curtains or drapes. If the kitchen in the house has access to the street, then you need to carefully consider the arrangement of furniture.

A glass door in the form of a French window will fill your kitchen with sunshine and warmth.

A glazed door will expand the space, but it is better to keep it away from the work area. The door should be well insulated so that in the cold season the temperature in the kitchen is not below normal.

Dining room

The main advantage of a large one in the house is the ability to combine the kitchen with the dining room. A separate room for eating is a luxury for owners of small apartments, but commonplace for owners of a private house.

The work area and the eating area should be separated from each other. You can zone the space both with the help of partitions, and with the help of separate lighting for each zone, or thanks to correct placement furniture.

A floor lamp can be hung over the dining table surrounded by chairs, which will create a cozy atmosphere during your evening dinner. You can also raise the work area by making the floors in it a few centimeters higher than in the rest of the room. Kitchen design and should be done in the same style.

Combined with living room

Pay attention to the lighting - in a large kitchen there should be plenty of light - create several spotlights.

The kitchen and the living room should be in the same style.

In a large kitchen, windows play an important role. Especially carefully you need to calculate the size of the lockers.

The interior in the kitchen must meet the needs of the owners. Despite the large space, the room does not have to be completely furnished, the most necessary items are enough. And if you are not too fond of cooking, it is better to focus on the elements of the dining room and living room, and make the work area small.

The presence of a Russian stove in the interior of the kitchen creates a special atmosphere of warmth and home comfort. Nowadays, the owners of country houses often order design projects that revive the unusually warm atmosphere of a village hut. Oven in modern house can perform only a decorative function, but more often the owners use it for its intended purpose.

What is good about the Russian stove in the kitchen

Once upon a time, not a single rural or even city house could do without a Russian stove. She helped:
  • prepare dinner for the whole family;
  • warm up households during the cold season;
  • heal from ailments and colds;
  • warm bathing water;
  • dry medicinal herbs, mushrooms and berries;
  • make preparations for the winter.

The owners were proud of the Russian stove, watched and looked after it, realizing how important it is. Today, a full-fledged design of a stove with water heating may well replace a solid fuel boiler, but it will require more attention. The owner will be rewarded for his efforts with exclusive kitchen design and extraordinarily tasty pies, as well as reduced fuel costs, compared to gas appliances or electric heating.

A lot is possible with a stove in the kitchen. The cooking process becomes mesmerizing - what is only a poker and grips with pots! Brick accumulates heat, heating the house for a long time after laying firewood and coal. On the stove bench, joints have been warmed up for a long time and got rid of colds. Even today it may well become a favorite place for children and older people.

Varieties and features of the Russian stove

By the purpose of the furnace there are:

  • cooking;
  • heating;
  • heating and cooking.

Unlike fireplaces, Russian stoves are intended only for the kitchen. IN living rooms only a part of them can come out, the design of which is performed at their discretion. Stoves are located in the middle of the kitchen, or near interior walls... It makes no sense to place them next to external enclosing structures, no matter how attractive the proposed kitchen design looks.

It is important to understand that heating the street wall will result in large heat losses.

Modern designs of kitchen stoves differ somewhat from traditional forms, although the functional requirements for them are the same. The different designs and sizes of the stoves allow them to fit into both rustic and classic styles.

The peculiarity of the Russian stove is the presence of a recessed cooking chamber, covered by a flap, and a mouth, which ensures a more complete combustion of the fuel. But whatever the stove is, it must be equipped with a blower, a firebox, dampers and a chimney. Its masonry has a number of features, so it is recommended to invite experienced stove-makers to work, otherwise, during the operation of the stove, problems may arise in the form of insufficient traction and smoke in the kitchen, or a low efficiency indicator.

Finishing types

The design of the kitchen should be made in such a way that the stove is defined as the main one. decorative element, regardless of its purpose. Although in some situations it is not flaunted. In any case, they try to hide the oven masonry itself under the finish, which provides:

  • attractive appearance;
  • additional wall protection;
  • the necessary tightness of the seams.

Whitewash

A rustic kitchen design allows for a cheap option for decorating stove surfaces, which consists in an uneven plaster layer applied to them, followed by painting or whitewashing. This version of the handmade hut emphasizes the closeness to the naturalness and authentic finish of the rustic stoves that ancestors used for many decades.

The disadvantages of plastered stove walls are small surface cracks and frequent whitewashing. By the way, you can decorate the whitewashed walls with drawings made with heat-resistant paints by hand. In this case, the kitchen design can be changed every time after the next whitewashing of the wood-burning stove.

Tiled tiles

Tiles are considered the most suitable option for lining the stove in the kitchen. They are able to create a noble design, emphasizing the status of the owner. But not all owners can afford such a finish due to the high cost of ceramic products.

The clay tiles are box-shaped so that touching the surface of the hottest oven will never cause a burn. The walls give only pleasant, soft warmth, which lasts for a long time after the firewood burns out. Tiles:

  • practical;
  • durable;
  • are unique;
  • stylish;
  • presentable.

The front surface of the tiles is made embossed or smooth, monochromatic or with a hand-applied pattern. The glossy glaze top gives a play of light, adding airiness to the kitchen design and creating fancy looks.

Some tile collections are real works of art and have a corresponding cost that exceeds the cost of materials and masonry of the stove itself several times.

Other ways of facing and decoration

The next finishing option for a wood-burning stove is suitable for more modern design interiors made in "urban" styles. It provides for facing the front surfaces with decorative bricks without subsequent plastering and painting.

Often wood stoves decorated with tiles or stone tiles, as well as wallpaper. But such finishing methods do not justify themselves. The fact is that oven brick heats up faster, changing in size. The tile, being cold, does not have time to expand at the same rate, as indicated by the different thermal characteristics of the two materials. As a result, the destruction of ceramics or deformation of the wallpaper can occur.

But home craftsmen found a way out. At some distance around the stove, they install metal carcass, on the front side of which a non-combustible and non-fusible decorative material is attached or glued. This makes it possible to bring to life almost any design you like. The distance from the oven walls, in this case, plays an important role. It provides convection and helps to retain heat longer after the fuel burns out.

Some craftsmen prefer to make frames collapsible, and put them only if necessary. This solution is convenient for small kitchens. The fact is that the installation of an additional structure for finishing "takes" some area.

Instead of a conclusion

Using the individual decoration of a brick oven in the kitchen design, the interior of the room can be made interesting and exclusive by adding elements that match the style. For example, embroidered napkins, curtains and tablecloths, old knick-knacks, a grip and a poker will perfectly fit into "Russian Provence". Next to the stove, you can put a woodpile or set up a bench, and put a samovar on a wooden table. But the presence of modern household appliances in the kitchen is not prohibited. The main thing is that it fits into the interior or be hidden behind furniture facades.
