DIY greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes

The choice of pipes for is due to their strength. We will not be interested in parameters such as working pressure and other characteristics for water pipes... The pipe must be plastic and solid, withstand aggressive environment and heavy weight.

TO merits polypropylene can be attributed to it environmental friendliness - pipes from it are used to supply drinking water, which means there are no harmful impurities in the material and vapors. The flexibility of the material allows you to mount arched structures. Such pipes steady to high temperatures... Another advantage is the weight - they are the lightest of all plastic pipes... The greenhouse structure can be easily transferred to another place, it does not require much physical effort to create it.

disadvantages few, but quite serious. When -15 ° C polypropylene pipes become brittle and can collapse under the weight of snow. The frame of them must be disassembled and removed for the winter. Such pipes sensitive to ultraviolet, which reduces the operational properties - they can deform.

HDPE pipes from polyvinyl chloride have the same advantages as polypropylenebut more resistant to UV light.

The service life of pipes is from 10 to 12 years.

To make a greenhouse with your own hands from polypropylene pipes , the pipe diameter (outer) can be from 13 to 25 mm, depending on the severity of the covering material. For the film, a 13 mm pipe is enough, for polycarbonate - 20-25 mm. The wall thickness must be at least 3 mm. Such parameters will provide structural strength.

Film mounts

How to pin to plastic frame film without damaging it? Together with arcs for a greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes, there are usually special clipssimply clamping the film in the right places. They are plastic, therefore safe for its integrity. They are also sold separately in packs of 10 pieces. When purchasing ready-made clips, pay attention to the diameter of the pipe for which they are intended.

Can be done clamps do it yourself from scraps of the same pipes. To do this, small pieces about 7-10 cm long. They are cut along the wall and pushed apart. Sharp edges can be processed emery or melt.

Can polycarbonate be mounted on a frame?

Can. Pipes are enough durableto support the weight of the polycarbonate sheets. But here you need to focus on expediency. Greenhouses are built from polycarbonate and polypropylene pipes with their own hands, as a rule, taking into account wintering, they are not intended for permanent assembly-disassembly.

AND polypropylene does not withstand winter temperatures well. In warm regions where winter temperatures do not drop below - 5 ° C, this option is quite justified. Where frosts crack in winter, it is better to make a collapsible greenhouse with a film coating.

Preparation for construction

This is certainly not a home, but preliminary preparation to the construction greenhouses made of polypropylene do it yourself is necessary.

It starts with a choice places, especially for a stationary greenhouse. The place for construction should be level so that you do not have to complicate the structure.

It should be sunny, otherwise the meaning of its construction is lost.

Usually, a summer or stationary greenhouse is oriented with its ends from south to north. So the sunlight will fill her throughout the day.

The place should be protected from strong winds, from which the steel structure can also collapse.

If this is not possible, you need to build a greenhouse so that it is protected at least from the north wind, bringing cold.

The greenhouse should be located at a distance 5 meters from other buildings on the site. Of polypropylene pipes you can build a greenhouse of any design - a house, arched, wall-mounted. The choice depends on the seasonality of use, financial capabilities and the area of the beds that are planned to be split in it.

It also depends on what crops will be grown in it and what the height of the plants will be. The most common summer design is arched greenhouse... It is both aesthetic and functional.

Material for foundation and its type depends on the design. For lightweight film greenhouses, a wooden foundation in the form of a bar or a base of boards will be sufficient. For a permanent polycarbonate greenhouse, you will need more solid support.

It could be strip foundation ... It is durable and is also suitable for a removable structure, if it is not supposed to be moved around the suburban area. Also, wooden foundation will begin to rot, even if it is well treated with an antiseptic. It will have to be changed approximately every 3-4 years.

Calculation of materials

number pipes depends on the height and length of the structure, on the coating material - it will be a film or polycarbonate. For a film greenhouse, pipes of a smaller diameter can be used; for polycarbonate, thicker, stronger pipes are needed. In addition, to fasten the stiffeners of the structure, you must purchase adapter couplings.

The calculation also includes the material from which the foundation will be made. Pipes are attached to it with metal fittings. Internal supports should also be provided. In addition, the fasteners that will be used during construction are calculated.

Important! Before calculating materials, do drawing greenhouses.

Do it yourself: assembly instructions

How to make carcass DIY greenhouses made of polypropylene pipes? Greenhouse frame made of HDPE pipes are perhaps the easiest construction to manufacture. For greenhouse size 10x4 you will need:

  • base board 2x20 cm - 28 p / m;
  • polypropylene or HDPE pipes with a diameter 13 mm - 17 pcs. 6 m each;
  • fittings 10-12 mm, rods 3 m long - 10 pcs.;
  • strips for lathing ends 2x4 cm according to the drawing;
  • plastic connecting clamps;
  • fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws, staples);
  • aluminum fasteners for connecting arches with a wooden frame;
  • coating film;
  • clips for fastening the film;
  • locks and hinges for vents (if provided).

Arched greenhouse with a frame made of HDPE pipes - step by step instructions:

  1. At the selected place, a shallow (10-15 cm) trench around the perimeter of the greenhouse. A wooden frame is installed in it. The bottom is covered with sand or lined with roofing material. A beam or board for the foundation must necessarily pass antiseptic treatment to increase the service life. Measure both diagonals of the frame, if they are equal, then it is aligned correctly and has right angles.
  2. In the corners of the frame, short pieces of reinforcement are hammered into the ground no higher than the sides of the frame. They will keep the structure from deformations.
  3. The rest of the cut pieces of reinforcement are driven in half the length along the walls from the outside of the frame in increments of 60-62 cm.
  4. Six-meter pipes are put on on the pins on both sides - first on one, then, with a neat fold, on the other. Attached to the base board with a metal bracket.
  5. From the ends is done wooden lathing... 4 racks are installed. The distance between them depends on the width of the doorway. Vertical slats are necessarily tied transversely to give rigidity.
  6. Under the very top of the structure stretches stiffener... To do this, with the help of plastic clamps, two polypropylene pipes are joined and attached to the arches.
  7. Last step - film fixing using clips - purchased or homemade. The bottom of the coating must be made heavier so that the film does not rise in the wind. You can press it with stones or a long bar.

Reference: To prevent the film from tearing under the clips, cover the structure graduallymaking allowances.

Build from pipes polypropylene greenhouse even a beginner in construction can do it. It will last more than one year if it is properly operated and, if necessary, the wooden frame at the base is replaced. Good luck to everyone and good harvests!

One of the most common options for modern greenhouses is a polypropylene greenhouse. Installation of the structure is mostly reduced to the assembly of the frame, which, in turn, is easy and simple to perform. Therefore, you can easily make such a greenhouse with your own hands, without the involvement of professionals. Moreover, during the construction process, specially designed tools will not be required, and material costs add up to an absolutely real amount.

A greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes with your own hands can be made in many design options. Let's take a look at the three most common ones.

Polypropylene greenhouse

So, a greenhouse based on polypropylene is absolutely easy to build with your own hands.

First, you should prepare (buy and / or manufacture) the necessary components:

  1. 3.5 m - 2 pcs.
  2. 3.6 m - 2 pcs.
  3. 5.58 m - 5 pcs.
  4. 0.9 m - 4 pcs.
  5. 1.9 m - 4 pcs.
  6. 0.68 m - 10 pcs.
  7. 1.7 m - 2 pcs.

Secondly, you should choose a site for the future greenhouse, level the surface and drive pegs to a depth of 25 cm on all sides around the perimeter - they will prevent the PVC arcs from unbending.

Now you can proceed directly to.

Let's start with tees - pipes should pass freely through them. Before starting the attachment, it is worth deciding which greenhouse you are assembling, collapsible or non-collapsible. In the first case, the tees are fixed with self-tapping screws. In the second version, the pipe is cut into shorter lengths and the tees are attached with glue.

Hinges, latches and clamps for film can be made by hand. For hinges, two pieces of PVC pipe, each 10 cm long and 1 - ¼ "in diameter, are glued together and attached to the frame with a standard screw. Snaps are also made from a piece of pipe, having previously cut a ¼ part around the circumference and smoothing the edges.

The greenhouse frame made of polypropylene is completed, you can proceed to the final stage - covering with a greenhouse film. It is advisable to carry out work in warm weather, which will prevent the possibility of sagging of the film. Fixation is carried out along the entire perimeter with clamps, thanks to which, if necessary, it will be possible to pull up the film without effort.

Like any design, such a greenhouse has its own advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of a greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes is non-susceptibility to decay, corrosion, etc. The main disadvantages are the fragility of the service of the film coating and poor thermal insulation. Moreover, you can easily increase the service life - you just need to replace the film, the service life of which reaches 12 years.

The construction of a greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes, especially with your own hands, can be called waste-free production, since, for example, racks for seedlings can be built from the remaining scraps of PVC pipes.

Greenhouse on a wooden base

In this case, it will be located on a base of wooden boards.

The wooden box on which the frame will subsequently be installed must have perfect right angles, for which it is recommended to use pieces of reinforcement. At the end construction works they can be removed.

When the base is ready, move on to the arches of the greenhouse. The step between them should be about 0.85 m.Previously, along the perimeter of the base in the places of the calculated position of the arcs, it is necessary to fix 10 mm pieces of reinforcement so that about 30 cm remains on the surface.

PVC pipes are cut into pieces of the required length and fitted onto the fittings. The edges are fixed by fastening to the base with screws or specially designed fasteners.

Frames with vents and doors are mounted from the ends.

To strengthen it, it is recommended to pass another PVC pipe over the assembled structure and fix it plastic ties to the arcs.

So, the frame is complete, you can fasten the film, which is fixed by the standard method - by means of bars. The film is also used for covering vents and doors.

Back to the table of contents

Cellular polycarbonate greenhouse

As noted earlier, the film does not differ in durability, therefore, it is recommended, if possible and if desired, to replace it with cellular polycarbonate. It is also not difficult to mount this. The main thing is to adhere to a certain sequence of installation. Let's look at the process in stages.

  • training;

It is necessary to select a site for construction, level the ground.

Before you start mounting, you should close the ends with sheets of cellular polycarbonate.

To do this, cut exactly 3 sheets of 2x2.1 m in size (it is recommended to use a construction knife). The end frame is laid horizontally in a position where the door and the vent open upward. A protective film is removed from the inside of the prepared sheet of cellular polycarbonate, and it lies on the surface of the end face up. At the end of the entire process, the honeycomb should be parallel to the axis of the door opening and perpendicular to the base. The first sheet should fully close the door, the window and part of the end.

  • fixing cellular polycarbonate;

Mount polycarbonate sheets carried out by self-tapping screws with press washers measuring 3.2x25 mm. If excess is formed along the arc, they are cut off with a construction knife. The second sheet is attached in a similar way to the first one. It is very important not to forget to remove the protective film and align the sheet relative to the opening axis and the base.

  • doors and vents;

Using a ruler and a construction knife, the doors are cut in the middle of the frame so that an overlap is formed when closing. For a better and smooth opening of the door, it is worth cutting out holes for the vents and protrusions of the hinges.

The second end is covered with cellular polycarbonate in the same way.

  • direct installation of the frame;

After completing all the previous preparatory steps, you can proceed to direct installation. The ends are installed on a pre-rammed surface and fixed to the base. The arcs are installed using guides and attached to the ends with a longitudinal tie.

The level checks the position of the structure relative to the earth's surface. If the work is done accurately, taking into account all the requirements and comments, then the frame can be fixed with driven pins. Then the greenhouse will not budge during the entire period of operation.

  • fastening the cover.

When the frame is fixed, you can start fixing the sheets of cellular polycarbonate, which are recommended to be prepared with a margin of about 100 mm to the determined dimensions.

Sheets are stacked on arcs face up, with the edge protruding 50 mm above the end. Fastening is carried out with self-tapping screws with press washers.

The protective film is removed only after complete installation.

Polypropylene pipes are effective not only for arranging communication systems, but also for creating a greenhouse in a garden area. Practical and available material allows you to make a greenhouse of any design with your own hands, but for this you need to choose the installation technology.

Polypropylene is a polymer material that differs from plastic in a number of properties. Pipes made of this substance are actively used for the organization of utilities, for example, water supply and sewerage in a private house. Non-standard use of polypropylene pipes can be different. A greenhouse made of such a material is a good solution for a garden plot, which does not require significant investments and efforts.

A small pipe greenhouse is reliable and convenient

This material is a popular type of plastic, but there are also more efficient options. At the same time, polypropylene pipes, when used for the construction of greenhouses, have the following positive features:

  • easy installation by welding for greenhouses of different shapes;
  • durability and low cost;
  • pipe structures can be disassembled at the end of the season;
  • practicality, ease of use;
  • there is no need for staining and processing.
  • Excessive lightness of the pipes does not allow the creation of large structures. Therefore, for a spacious greenhouse, additional weighting or securing of the structure is necessary. Long structures also require careful organization of the roof, additional supports and thoughtful greenhouse ends. This is due to the fact that wind or snow, rain can damage a large greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes.

    Size and drawing

    A greenhouse differs from a greenhouse in that it is large in size, allowing an adult to go inside. And also a greenhouse presupposes a careful arrangement, a thoughtful roof structure, the presence of vents and doors. If you can make a greenhouse out of pipes very quickly, then the greenhouse requires a more serious approach. For this purpose, an accurate drawing of the structure is required, which indicates the dimensions of all parts, the type of pipe fastening, the location of doors and vents.

    On a simple drawing, it is worth reflecting the size of the greenhouse

    Polypropylene pipes are suitable for creating structures of any size, but when building a greenhouse with a length of more than 4 m, the load and strength of the roof are taken into account. The following parameters are acceptable: height - 2 m, width - 2.5 m, length - 4 m. Such a greenhouse makes it easy to grow several beds of garden crops, providing normal conditions for the plants.

    When creating a drawing, you need to provide for the type of foundation

    When developing a greenhouse project from polypropylene pipes, one should take into account the uniform placement of load-bearing elements and connecting nodes. This will ensure sustainability large construction... In this case, the weight of the outer coating requires special attention. The film or agricultural canvas is light, but polycarbonate sheets are heavy and can damage the structure. In this case, it is necessary to provide additional supports in the middle of the greenhouse roof.

    Key details are displayed in the drawing

    A structure with a length of more than 6 m is spacious, but requires correct calculation of the parameters. In the absence of experience, it is best to build a spacious greenhouse, the length of which does not exceed 4 m and the width is about 2.5 - 3 m. The height of 1.9 m is optimal for the comfortable operation of the structure, but this parameter depends on the height of the users.

    Choice of materials

    The quality and parameters of materials are the key to the durability and reliability of the structure. Polypropylene pipes must have an internal diameter of at least 16 mm, and the wall thickness is 4.2 mm. Such elements belong to the category of thick-walled pipes and are reliable material for the greenhouse. Elements should not have cracks and deformation, since the quality of the greenhouse depends on the base.

    Greenhouse needs pipes and fittings

    To fasten the pipes together, you will need fittings, the inner diameter of which must correspond to the outer diameter of the pipes. Tees and crosses are the main parts for connecting elements. The base can be made from 150x30 mm wooden planks or a concrete foundation can be created. The choice of a particular base depends on the size of the structure, but often greenhouses made of polypropylene pipes have wooden base... Thin strips of metal, film clips, screws and nails should be picked up with a margin. To strengthen the structure, reinforcing rods are needed, the diameter of which is about 10 mm.

    Number of materials and tools

    When creating a greenhouse arch or corner roof often made of several elements. For example, for one arch, you need to connect two equal pipe segments. With this in mind, it is necessary to calculate the amount of material for the frame. The base or foundation assumes the presence of high-quality boards, the length and width of which correspond to the parameters of the future greenhouse. To calculate the amount of material, a construction drawing is required. If it is impossible to draw up a product diagram, then you can take a ready-made version with suitable parameters as a basis.

    Indoor space should be optimal for plants

    Nails, screws, PVA glue and others consumables prepared in excess. This allows you to create reliable greenhouse without saving on fixing components. For work, you will also need thin strips for attaching the film, but they can be replaced with special clips. It is better to install the base of the structure on bricks. Steel wire is required to secure the parts. The calculation of the amount of film or polycarbonate is carried out taking into account the surface area of the greenhouse. To do this, measure the length of the structure, the length of the arch and calculate the area.

    To work you need the following tools:

    • screwdriver, drill and hammer;
    • garden drill and sledgehammer;
    • sharp knife;
    • hacksaw for metal work;
    • tape measure and level.

    Reliable fixtures and power tools are essential for building a greenhouse. At the same time, it is important to observe the technology of creation, because the durability and reliability of the shelter for plants depends on it.

    DIY greenhouse guide

    You can make a do-it-yourself greenhouse from polypropylene pipes with the help of careful preparation. At the same time, the size of the structure is determined, as well as the type of foundation. A wooden base is simple and reliable, but a large greenhouse with more than 4 beds requires a more solid base. The combination of bricks and timber frame from the bars. To do this, you need to prepare a site for the greenhouse, lay bricks around the perimeter, on which a wooden box is then installed. This prevents wood from rotting and creates a solid foundation.

    Bricks are laid around the perimeter of the greenhouse

    Next to the corner bricks, you need to drive reinforcement into the ground, which is then screwed to the frame. Thus, it secures the foundation to the ground, which is necessary for the stability of the structure.

    Video: features of a greenhouse made of pipes

    It is easy to make a greenhouse from polypropylene pipes with your own hands, but you need to choose the installation technology. The quality of the materials, the reliability of the fasteners, the observance of the installation rules are the key to the durability of the greenhouse.

    Today the market offers a huge number of greenhouse complexes: gable and arched, capital and lighter, mobile, with film cladding and glazed, expensive and not very. Among all this variety, of course, you can choose suitable model, or you can build it yourself. Today we will tell you about how to make a greenhouse from polypropylene pipes with your own hands.

    DIY greenhouse. Choosing a material for the frame

    It is difficult to imagine a modern dacha without a reliable and strong greenhouse, because we love early radishes so much, and like children we rejoice at the first tomatoes, and in the fall we want to get a rich harvest of heat-loving crops. All this is possible if your site has a covered greenhouse complex with a solid structure and a solid canopy.

    The frame made of plastic pipes is very light and at the same time quite strong

    There are many different greenhouses and many materials for their construction, which means that there are also a lot of opinions about what the best greenhouse should be. One of the most important criteria for choosing one or another greenhouse is the durability of the structure, and it is from it that one should proceed when building a greenhouse complex. The most durable and, importantly, inexpensive greenhouse with a frame made of shaped pipe.

    But if your budget is limited or you just do not want to overpay for installing a greenhouse on the site, then you will certainly be interested in PVC pipe structures. A greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes with your own hands, in comparison with more expensive counterparts, has a number of advantages. One of the most striking advantages is the ability to quickly assemble / disassemble the structure, which allows not only choosing the dimensions of the greenhouse complex ourselves, but also folding it for the winter for storage in the garage.

    Greenhouse made of plastic pipes, covered with film

    Another advantage of the PVC greenhouse is its lightness. However, this quality is often taken by experts as the main drawback of such designs.

    Other advantages of greenhouses made of polypropylene and PVC pipes include:

    Types of greenhouse complexes made of plastic pipes

    There are many modifications of greenhouses, we will give only a few, the most common of them:

    Light greenhouse made of film and plastic pipes

    1. Arch-type greenhouses with a durable film coating (can be equipped with a box made of wood and arches on steel rods, as well as arches and a frame made of plastic on tees).
    2. Models with a gable roof coated with film.
    3. Design arched type with polycarbonate casing.
    4. Products equipped with gable roof and covering polycarbonate.

    Materials for self-construction

    To design a greenhouse with your own hands, you will have to arm yourself with an aluminum profile, polypropylene or metal-plastic pipesas well as PVC pipes. The status of truly durable and ultra-reliable complexes was deservedly won by products based on shaped pipes. Traditionally, pipes with a rectangular or square cross section (40 x 20, 20 x 20, 40 x 40) are used for construction.

    Arch-type greenhouse frame

    The frame of a structure based on shaped pipes is the best suited for subsequent glass cladding. Many gardeners prefer greenhouse complexes made of galvanized pipes. Of course, such products have a number of advantages: the frame does not rust and deteriorate from corrosion, it successfully withstands any whims of the weather, and the service life of such a structure is decades.

    For accurate calculation of the quantity necessary materials you must first design the structure. This is done either independently, with the appropriate knowledge and training, or simply downloaded from the Internet.

    Attention! Anyone can design a greenhouse based on plastic pipes: from a professional builder to a beginner who has never held a tool in his life. The main thing is desire, patience and utmost accuracy!

    Frame construction

    To carry out the work, we need fittings, PVC pipes, 4 beams 10 x 10, bars 50 x 50 in the amount of 10 pieces, plastic clamps, nails, screws, several sheets of polycarbonate, accessories for vents and doors of the future design, as well as some free time and desire.

    Greenhouse frame installation

    Construction work, as usual, is preceded by an important stage of preparatory measures: the site for the construction is selected and carefully leveled. The timber must be treated with a special antiseptic, which will retain its original quality for a long time and protect it from moisture and soil exposure. Using a timber, the base frame is carefully made.

    Fixing to the base of the greenhouse

    To give the structure maximum stability, reinforcing bars are used. Of these, special blanks are cut with a length of no more than 80 cm.They are driven in around the entire perimeter of the future greenhouse at a distance of 50 cm from each other and to a depth of 40 cm.On the left side, a PVC pipe is put on the reinforcing bar, gently bent. The other end slides over the right-hand reinforcing bar. As a result, arcs are obtained at an equidistant distance from each other (50 cm). The pipes are fixed very simply: they are screwed to the base frame with clamps. We will need 50 x 50 bars for the construction of openings for future doors from the end of the greenhouse.

    Fastening the greenhouse frame

    In order for the finished structure to be really strong and as durable as possible, it is recommended to install stiffeners. To do this, a pipe is attached in the central part of the end blocks and is attached to all arcs by means of clamps.

    Doors are installed in prepared doorways. The most simple construction greenhouses are considered finished.

    We select the trim

    Film

    It is hard to disagree that film is the most common coating. Yes, at first glance it may seem that the cost of film coating will be minimal. However, looking into the near future, we will note that a new film will have to be bought every season, which means that costs will only grow every year. If this does not scare you, then feel free to buy this inexpensive coating and carefully attach it along the lower edge of the structure. Then the film is lifted, carefully stretched, with the help of rails it is nailed in the middle, stretched again and fixed in the lower plane already on the other side of the greenhouse. The whole procedure will take 1-2 hours. The main thing is to do everything slowly and very carefully. To install the film, choose as calm weather as possible.

    Greenhouse lined with foil

    Attention! To prevent drafts and crevices, slightly weight the edges of the film coating. Take advantage of rocks or bricks that can almost always be found in any garden plot.

    Glass

    Despite its many advantages, a glass-covered greenhouse complex is somewhat costly. For the construction of a solid and durable greenhouse, it is necessary to prepare the foundation, weld the base from shaped pipes, carefully study the watering and ventilation of the air, and glaze. The last stage - glazing - requires special skills and abilities from the performer, because the material is quite fragile and unsafe. And there are a lot of hooligans: inadvertently they can damage not only the structure itself, but also ruin the entire greenhouse harvest.

    Polycarbonate

    If you are interested in really practical, reliable and durable cladding, then go for polycarbonate. This versatile material perfectly winters, does not need to be dismantled at low temperatures, and in the spring in such a greenhouse it almost instantly thaws the soil. The coating retains heat, condensation is never visible on it, and the service life of polycarbonate reaches 10 years. No wonder experts consider it the best coverage for modern greenhouse complexes.

    Polycarbonate greenhouse with plastic pipe frame

    Fastening polycarbonate to the frame is a simple procedure that does not take much time.
    To cover the structure with polycarbonate, you first need to unfold it (the material is sold in rolls), remove the protective film from the bottom surface and fix the canvas at the bottom with screws. Then the sheet is carefully lifted and simultaneously screwed to the frame every 70 cm. Having reached the opposite side of the greenhouse, the sheet is again fixed at the bottom. If the greenhouse is installed perfectly level, then the coating will be smooth and uniform over the entire surface.

    In addition to the above materials for cladding, you can also use non-woven materials (spunbond, agrospan, agrotex). Bubble film coatings and reinforced coatings are very common, capable of withstanding any kind of bad weather, including heavy hail and storm winds.

    As you noticed, build a greenhouse from PVC pipes, plastic or polyethylene pipes not only simple, but affordable even on a limited budget. An inexpensive and well-built PVC greenhouse will last a long time and will be an excellent alternative for expensive factory-made greenhouse complexes.

    We build a greenhouse from polypropylene pipes: video

    DIY plastic pipe greenhouse: photo

    Made by hand, it is very popular among amateur gardeners. Recently, there are compact and convenient greenhouses on almost every summer cottage... These greenhouses are comfortable, reliable and relatively inexpensive.

    Preparation for work

    Before starting installation, you must stock up on the following materials:

    1. Polypropylene pipes with thick walls (at least 4.2 mm), designed for hot water supply. The most optimal pipes are considered, the inner diameter of which exceeds 16.6 mm.
    2. 75 cm reinforcing rods with a section of 10-12 mm.
    3. Edged board, the dimensions of which are equal to 150x30 mm.
    4. Reinforced film for greenhouses (or cellular polycarbonate).
    5. Square timber with a section of 50x50 mm.
    6. With nails and screws.

    You will also need a couple of polypropylene pipes with a large diameter (film latches and door hinges are made of them).

    When crafts are created from polypropylene pipes, then you cannot do without tools, such as:

    • hammer and drill;
    • garden drill and sledgehammer;
    • sharp painting knife.

    Choosing a site for a greenhouse

    In order to mount a greenhouse frame made of polypropylene pipes, you need to find a sunny, sufficiently well-ventilated area. It is required to abandon those sectors of the site where a large amount of snow collects in winter. For there is a danger that under heavy loads, the film web will simply break. The most optimal option is considered when the structure can be dismantled for the winter months.

    Do-it-yourself area for a greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes should be perfectly flat. Before starting construction, the top soil is slightly compacted and leveled.

    If you carefully examine the PVC pipes, it becomes clear: the installation of the frame begins with a careful marking of the selected site. Wooden frameassembled from boards must have perfectly square corners. When creating the lower wooden frame, self-tapping screws or nails are used. After hoisting the frame in place, the corners are attached from the back with a reinforcing bar. Then soil is poured into the box.

    After the construction of the strapping, the most important segments of the base are installed - the reinforcing fastening rods. First, you need to make holes (a garden drill is useful here). The depth of the holes should be at least 0.5 m. In some cases, the rods are simply driven into the ground (for this, an ordinary sledgehammer or hammer is taken). However, practice shows that it is quite difficult to score them vertically at once. The ends of the installed rods should protrude 0.25 m above the ground level.The step between adjacent elements is 50 cm.

    Greenhouse installation

    Greenhouse "ribs" are mounted on a completely finished base. As shown in the photo, PVC pipes are put on rods. This gives the arches good rigidity.

    In the next stage, the PVC pipe greenhouse is reinforced with transverse stiffeners. PVC pipes are also used for their manufacture. The transverse segments are fixed to the frame with wire or plastic tees. There are versions in which they are soldered to arch pipes. The best option is to mount them with self-tapping screws. As a result, the greenhouse becomes collapsible.

    The larger the size of the greenhouse, the large quantity transverse stiffeners must be installed.

    The upper part of the greenhouse is certainly equipped with a central transverse ridge made of polycarbonate. Otherwise the film may sag under the weight of rain. You can get acquainted with the general view of the finished PVC-pipe greenhouses by looking at the photo. You can find a detailed drawing and video instructions with a step-by-step demonstration of each stage of construction.

    Assembling the ends

    For the construction of such elements, a timber is taken, pre-impregnated with antiseptics with anti-rotting additives. The assembled timber structures are covered with a film, which is attached to the tree with self-tapping screws.

    Sometimes PVC pipes are used instead of wooden beams. The detailed drawings clearly show how and what can be made from this material. Greenhouse end arches are equipped with pieces of the required size. On the first arch, they are attached using tees. In the lower part, fixation is carried out with reinforcing rods.

    A door assembled from pieces is hung on the finished plastic "jambs". This is done simply: a pair of short lengths of PVC pipes with a large diameter are soldered to one of the vertical posts. Further, the door leaf itself is attached here.

    Sheathing with foil and more

    A home-made greenhouse made of PVC pipes is covered with reinforced polyethylene sheets. Traditional film is undesirable here, because its operational life is short. And although the cost of reinforced polyethylene is somewhat higher, it lasts much longer.

    The sheathing is cut directly in the greenhouse. This will make the calculations accurate. The stripes should be slightly longer than the "arched" ribs. The edges of the film are tucked in under the strapping. There it is attached to the tree through slats. On the arched "ribs", the material is fixed with special plastic clips. Convenient elastic clamps are made as follows: short pipe sections with a large cross section are cut lengthwise. Two adjacent layers of material are inserted into the cut. There, the film is securely fixed. After that, the PVC greenhouse can be considered built.

    In addition to the classic arched shape, a PVC greenhouse can have the features of a pretty fabulous house. The base of the greenhouse is mounted similarly to classic arched structures. Equal plastic pieces act as rafters here. All parts of the frame are connected using tees-fittings. Each new upper form is "reinforced" with horizontal transverse stiffeners. Preliminarily, tees must be put on the ends of the bearing racks.
